Celebrity Big Brother fans will have another opportunity to catch up with the show from later this year after Channel 5 announced the launch of its second timeshift channel.

The new service, ‘Channel 5+24′, will begin transmitting from Tuesday 4th February on Freeview (number 55), Freesat (132), Sky (175) and Virgin Media (152).

As its name suggests, between 7.00pm and midnight-1.00am, Channel 5+24 will feature programming that was shown on the main channel at the same time the day before.

Teleshopping commercials and repeats of other recent shows will fill the remaining hours – while it will ‘close down’ on Freeview between midnight and 10am.

This means 5*+1 is expected to disappear from Freesat and Virgin, as the channel numbers it currently occupies on those platforms have been reallocated to C5+24. It is unclear whether 5*+1 will also be removed from Sky.

The move comes after the network obtained an OFCOM license for a new channel named ’5Later’, which was expected to be their equivalent to Channel 4′s 4Seven.

Although C5+24 is due to arrive after the current series of Celebrity Big Brother concludes, it will be around in time for the next summer series of the show, which will air after the fifteenth civilian series in August.

Bit of an odd name change to go from 5 Later to Channel 5+24. Exciting though, hopefully some of the time can be taken up with live feed!
