[Nigel Farage has sparked uproar by declaring that mums are “worth far less” to City firms than men. The outspoken UKIP leader suggested women deserve to be paid less when they return to work after having a baby. But he insisted there was no sex discrimination in financial services because women "prepared to sacrifice the family life" do as well as men - "if not better". His jawdropping rant was branded "absolute rubbish" by Labour deputy leader Harriet Harman. In a double blow for Mr Farage, he was later hit over the head by angry protesters dubbing him “Nasty Little Nigel”. The South East MEP was ambushed by a jeering mob in Margate, Kent, in a general anti-UKIP protest. Ex-City trader Mr Farage had told an event in London: "In many, many cases, women make different choices in life to the ones that men make simply for biological reasons. "If a woman has a client base and has a child and takes two or three years off work, she is worth far less to the employer when she comes back than when she goes away because her client base cannot be stuck rigidly to her." He said there was "no discrimination against women at all" in the City. "I think that young, able women who are prepared to sacrifice the family life and stick with their careers do as well, if not better, than men," he said. ] http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage...-than-men.html Now the Leader has gone crazy Sign Of The Times Last edited by arista; 20-01-2014 at 10:23 PM. |
