Default Sexism from Luisa and Liz

Since everyone's always going on about certain hm's being sexist, I'm surprised no one has made this thread already...

During the task when Linda was eating dog food why did Luisa say Jim or Ollie should be doing that instead? why just the two guys?

During Liz's interview she said to Emma no man should call a woman a name, why not say no one should call anyone names, is it ok for a woman to call a man names then?

Discuss

It really annoyed me. According to Liz only women can call men names.

I'm not sure if they're typical of feminists but I've noticed they want things both ways. Basically whichever situation makes the woman come out looking better.

Tbf everyone has some sexist views that they themselves probably don't realize, but with certain HM's they have prejudices all over the place so of course they're gonna get attacked for it.

Tbh, I was so upset seeing Liz go to even care what she said. It probably was sexist, but ehh.

You're getting mixed up with common courtesy and sexism. Linda is an elderly woman the men definitely should have put themselves forward.

Anyone who calls that sexism is simply clutching at straws. Is it sexist to open a door for a woman? Pretty sure 100% of people on this forum said in a poll the other day it's not

Now your being ageist, she's not an elderly woman at all, she's not an invalid,Jim had already done one so why shouldn't she do one or whoever else was with them

What has age got to do with it plus Jim is older than Linda

It wasn't about opening a door not sure where your going with that, Liz said it's not ok for a man to call a woman a name if it wasn't sexism she would have said its not ok for anyone to call someone else a name regardless of gender.

Who's straw clutching here

To be fair, Liz may have just said the wrong thing. She might not have tried to convey notions of sexism.

this.

If it was sexism from Luisa she would have said any of the guys not just those two. She was just thinking of people who would have probably coped better than Linda. Reading too much into that comment I think.

It's hypocrisy more than anything. Luisa can't say Dappy thinks men and women aren't equal and get in a row over it and then say stuff like a man should do the eating task or "why are you talking to me like this? I am a woman"

Hypocrisy more than Sexism I think.

Ollie and Jim were the only guys in that part of the task, Why wouldn't Liz have coped with the task?

Would you have nominated Liz to do it over somebody like Ollie who is up for anything and Jim who is a good team player?

You are absolutely right Josy... I could also point out that on two occasions Liz said she would physically attack people... Once to Evander in defence of her horse and the second time when asked something in the diary room.
So if JIm or Dappy or any other male made that comment to a female for WHATEVER reason....this forum would have gone mad... It is sexism.

No I would have let Linda do it since she offered.

My point was there was no other guys available to do it so your previous argument never made any sense and if it wasn't being sexist then why couldn't she have said Liz too.

No denying this one I'm afraid, complete sexism from Luisa that was...

I took it that she was saying a stronger stomached member of the group would have been a better because Liz has phobias, Linda is quite old and as I stated before Ollie and Jim are nice guys who would probably take the hit for her. I'd have eaten it if I was in a house and they asked an older member to do it. If she had said 'a man should have done that' I'd understand what you're saying tbh but not this way.

I like Liz and Linda but I'm sorry Salman their comments were quite sexist, now don't get me wrong I'm not one of these that likes to bring misandry into the equation every time genuine instances of misogyny arise in an attempt to deflect attention away from the real problem in some petty kind of tit-for-tat exchange, or pretend that female-to-male sexism is as much as a problem as its antithesis because it definitely isn't, but across the board there are preordained beliefs and ideas about men and women and the way in which they should conduct themselves that are inherently sexist

Whether it's the idea that women should do domestic tasks like ironing and cleaning, or telling guys that dare to show any emotion to 'man up' - these beliefs are unequal in nature and only further concepts of masculinity and femininity, which isn't helpful to society at all, boundaries between men and women are becoming increasingly blurred and that's a good thing, we don't want that to be slowed down

Age is a factor, I doubt she would have said anything say if it was Casey. I don't really have to explain myself if you're a man and you let an elderly woman eat dog food instead of you than you're quite simply a twat. Please don't act like this is so outrageous and unheard of because you know it isn't.

Regarding what Liz said, it's a saying millions of people say with no intention of being sexist because it's just manners. She didn't mean it's okay to swear at men she just meant it's especially worse for a man to do it to a woman, which it is. Are the people who give up their seats to women being sexist too? No. It's just a traditional value in this country

None of them even knew what the task was? and I'm not acting like anything I was pointing out the hypocrisy of certain housemates being accused of being sexist but when others make questionable comments it gets brushed under the carpet.

With the second part of your post you are again going off on a tangent, of course a man giving up his seat for a woman is seen as manners or traditional but it's also seen by others as patronising, regardless of that it's a completely different scenario from calling someone names.

We should be looking at the real issues in society like the pay gap in order to combat sexism, I hardly think telling men to just be more well mannered in front of women is a big issue. But even if if is a problem it wasn't in Liz's nature to be sexist so she shouldn't be painted as one, as I said it's just a common courtesy in this country.
