I had this game for my Atari and it was truly awful!!!!! It was pretty much unplayable and i'm amazed it even got passed for release.
The thing was that new Atari cartridge games here in the UK were really expensive too. I had my console in 1981 and i seem to remember the games being around £30 then which was a lot of money, especially if you were a young kid like i was.
Imagine my disappointment when i spent my Birthday money on the ET cartridge in 1982 and it was total garbage!!!

There was a video game review show called X Play which dedicated a whole episode to the myth. That's how I learned about it.

The gameplay does look horrid.
