Default Dad kicks his hesitant 6yr old son down skate ramp/'tough love'...

A man was caught on video kicking his child off of a skate ramp platform in a shocking video - and turning away as his son yells in pain.

Ryan Stephens, 13, uploaded the video of Marcus Crossland kicking his 6-year-old son off the platform at Jacksonville's Kona State Park to Instagram, First Coast News reports. The footage gained attention when it was shared by an account called IGersJax, which documents life in the city.

Martin Ramos, the skate park's operator, told the website that the duo are regulars at the park but that he hadn't seen Crossland act that way before.

'He said he was just caught up in the moment. He seemed very remorseful. He certainly understands the gravity of the situation and it seems like he is going to be answering to this thing for quite some time to come,' he said

Ramos also said, 'Unfortunately parents get so enthusiastic about their kids and their abilities in skateboarding, or baseball, or football or whatever and sometimes they take it a little too far.'

Ramos reportedly asked Crossland to stay away from Kona State Park for now. Crossland, meanwhile, told the website that the sheriff's office 'wants to speak to him.'

Crossland's son, nicknamed Dino the Dinosaur, is well-known in the area, the site says. Crossland has uploaded multiple videos of Dino skating and performing tricks to YouTube.

Dino was not hurt in the fall, Ramos told ActionNews, and continued to skate after he was kicked by his father.

The station reports that the Department of Children and Families is investigating what happened

video's uploader, Ryan Stephens, told FirstCoastNews that he asked Crossland why Dino was kicked so hard.

he said "because he needs to learn". I was like "pushing him down is not teaching him how to drop in". And then he said "Do you think you can raise him better than me?" and I said yes,' Stephens said.

Meanwhile, online commenters have criticized Crossland for his parenting skills.
'How about someone push this a****** off a bridge. #sorryimnotsorry,' one user said.

'he needs to be reported if this is what he did in public view what you thing [sic] he does at home god be with this little boy,' one wrote.

'Man....do not show him to me if we are skateing [sic]....it would really take a lot to keep me out of jail,' another said.

'That guy is a complete a******!' another commenter wrote.

Comments relating to the video have been removed from Reddit, however, in order to prevent a 'witchunt.'

What is with all these stories at the moment. It's getting annoying seeing them everywhere.

Disgraceful. And no, don't believe in tough love if it results in such things like this.

..I don't know maybe it's a 'you've been framed' type thing and people want viral vids etc and think hmmm, I'll just give him a kick down that ramp, I don't think anyone has done that before...

I mean all these bad parenting videos in general that are going viral. It seems to be the new trend with social media atm.

..what amazes me though is that people's first thought is to get their phone out and video it, I guess it's a 'public shaming' type thing ..although in this case it looks as though it was being videoed anyway, maybe by his mum but then who posted it on youtube..?..someone else must have captured it as well.. maybe a 'love to hate' culture, it's all BBs fault.....

It just seems odd that they happened to be filming the incident before it even took place.

I think another kid set up the camera, maybe to film himself or herself doing tricks and they were just waiting for the bully father & son to finish.

Everyone needs abit of tough love as long as there is some "love" there too. My dad used to just take me to the deep end of the pool and just watch me and if I struggled he would then help me out. It's how I learned to swim. Same way with teaching me to ride a bike etc. This is just a terrible way of showing "tough love" though.

..I think that's because there is only the 'tough' shown and not the love/no balance..I'm not sure that I agree with it in that I never did it myself with my children but I had it to an extent myself when I was a child...

..oh I should have also said though Leon..with your dad it was measured in that he was there at the pool watching you if you should have needed help and the same with the bike but this dad just kicked his son down the ramp and turned away, not knowing if he would have hurt his back or damaged himself in any way..?..it is a bit over 'tough' I think...
