She is studying at the LSE, She looks a clever girl, I reckon she was always going to quit.
y Jon Craig, Chief Political Correspondent A student described by Nigel Farage as "the future face of UKIP" and labelled its "ethnic minority poster girl" has quit the party, accusing it of racism. Sanya-Jeet Thandi, a 21-year-old student at the London School of Economics, has accused UKIP of "descending into a form of racist populism". Her resignation is an embarrassing blow for UKIP leader Mr Farage, coming just nine days before the Euro elections and less than a week after he staged a rally parading his party's black and Asian candidates. At the rally, Mr Farage stood on the stage surrounded by ethnic minority candidates and claimed it was UKIP’s "Clause IV moment", following allegations of racism and a spate of controversies involving party candidates. He declared: "I don't care what you call us but from this moment on, please, do not ever call us a racist party. We are not a racist party."

I myself wouldn't say they are a racist party, having said that I have little to do with them and maybe their tone as to immigration particularly needs some addressing.
I don't think Nigel Farage is racist but this individula has been in the party, she will have met a greta number of other members of the party so maybe she has found undercurrents in the party which are not being made mainstream as to the public. A party seemingly in the ascendency seems an odd time for this individual to leave and publicly denounce it withourt really good reason. She is likely in the better position to judge things overall as to UKIP than I certainly am anyway. |

http://www.theguardian.com/politics/...ya-jeet-thandi
In the article, this minor youth member states that she is leaving the party because of "In reality, however, the direction in which the party is going is terrifying: Ukip has descended into a form of racist populism that I cannot bring myself to vote for. This week I decided to leave the party and I will abstain from voting in the upcoming European elections. I urge other Ukip supporters to do the same." But she does not explain why she thinks that, what evidence supports this view other than her own prejudice. She also adds: "The former Ukip supporter said she had been alarmed by a recent party poster which featured a large finger pointing at the camera next to the words: "26m people in Europe are looking for work. And whose jobs are they after? Thandi writes: "The … poster epitomises where the party is going wrong. This anti-immigrant campaign undermines Ukip's claim not to be a racist party. They are turning the election into a game of 'us' and 'them'. Well, I am with 'them'." Again she does not state any evidence to support her claim not does she say why she thinks that the immigrants will take UK jobs. Smacks of bollocks to me. |

she is claiming the poster is racist "This anti-immigrant campaign undermines Ukip's claim not to be a racist party. "
she is 21 and with respect, I would doubt she owns property or has much experience of business I would imagine, and this is my view, she has been targeted and her decision is little to do with her coming to this view of her own accord? |

It does not say that specifically and it is an election poster, all election posters are hyperbolic and have to be sifted for any truth, that includes labour and tories

After a bit of attention I think
Has it taken her three years to realise Ukip are quite strongly opposed to mass immigration? It's always been a cornerstone of their policies, and if anything they've only toned it down recently to try and gain more widespread appeal. I've also no doubt there were also more racist elements in their party a few years ago than there are now, mainly because they could get away with it more easily in the past when they were really on the fringes but now they are coming under a lot more scrutiny. This girl isn't saying anything particularly revelatory or ground breaking |

Maybe it's UKIPs choice to align themselves with the NBU that spurred her to this decision?

This has the feel of a Politically motivated action possibly she was offered inducements to make this move as it would reflect negatively on UKIP.
She must know UKIP's policies by now so to suddenly annouce she thinks the party is borderline racist is a bit disingenuous.

Is the NBU supposed to be this 'New British Union of Fascists', a seemingly half baked movement probably in single figures who fetishise 1930s fascism and try to replicate the Blackshirts?
Obviously UKIP are in no way aligned with them |

Yeah a couple of public meetings it looks like, where the clue is kinda in the name.
They're clearly a bunch of weirdo fantasists judging by their youtube videos, all dressing up and nazi saluting and trying to make out their 'leader' is a Mussolini type figure Last edited by MTVN; 14-05-2014 at 10:48 AM. |

http://www.edinburghnews.scotsman.co...test-1-3404499 You have to ask yourself why UKIP are calling for demonstrators to be removed from their public meetings, and yet these fascist self confessed 'blackshirts' are seemingly tolerated? Far right 'New British Union' and 'Britain First' have thrown themselves behind UKIP, and I don't see Farage rushing to distance them...

Nope....
'Ukip has asked police officers to arrest demonstrators for a hate crime if they call their supporters "fascists" at a public meeting held by the party. Three of the party's European election candidates said, in a joint statement, that they had asked Sussex Police to arrest "any protestors who call our supporters 'fascists', hurl other abuse or any physical assault, for 'hate crime' or under the Public Order Act" at the Hove meeting on Tuesday night. An anti-Ukip demonstration is due to take place outside the meeting. On Sunday, Nigel Farage claimed threats posed by anti-fascist groups demonstrating at Ukip events are the reason he uses bodyguards' Anti fascists are not welcome but if you are a fascist?.... http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/2014...n_5314454.html

It's a public meeting, it would defeat the point to vet everyone on the door, but a couple of weirdos turning up hardly constitutes a link between UKIP and this Fascist lot
