I really think you're seeing an imaginary game that you seem to think Liz played Macie!
She pretty much admitted (by her complete lack of being able to say what it was, if anything, she actually did for herself!) that she was a passenger on the games of several other players! I didn't like Steve very much during the Season but it would have been absolutely ridiculous and a travesty if Liz had been voted the winner over him. Austin and Julia's votes were inevitable, totally undertandable and set-in-stone all along but Vanessa voting for Liz was nothing but spite and bitterness! So very, very glad she didn't win. |

But if people are willing to let her be a passenger and not take her out then she definitely did a stellar job at forming bonds with the right people. She didn't win any comps after the second DE and by all means she should have been the first boot from Austwins, but instead ended up in a F3 scenario where she was guaranteed F2.
And if we need "moves," Liz was the main person to convince Vanessa to not backdoor Austin Week 5 (a move which really should have destroyed Vanessa's game; Shelli and Clay handling the situation even worse than Vanessa was the only reason Vanessa got away from that week without much blame), she was able to convince people to get rid of Julia instead of her in F6 even though it obviously should have been Liz, it was Liz's relationship with Vanessa that saved her from being the F5 boot and got Austin out instead. I'm not saying she was a mastermind by any means, but she had a really strong social game within her alliance (hell, the Sixth Sense was literally formed to save her) and she formed all the bonds she needed to go very deep into the game. I definitely would've thrown a vote at her instead of Steve's white boy revisionism about things he thinks he did but really had no involvement in.

I am happy for Steve he made the correct move and evicted Vanessa at the end. It was the correct move and won him the game. Is he the best winner ever? Certainly not but he was way better than the person he was sitting next to and that's what it takes to win. I find any argument that Liz should have won just silly and as bitter as Vanessa's jury vote.

re: Vanessa's vote, she said prior to the finale that she respected Liz's game more anyway, and she worked closely with both of them so it makes sense. All Steve did was ask clarifying questions and make Vanessa repeat herself so I get why she didn't see much game from his end. Liz was a key part in Vanessa's alliances while Steve was just an annoying appendage.

And I love how my post got deleted when I was speaking logic. Saying Liz is useless and a lapdog, when you're faves and who you think deserved to win is Steve and Johnny Whack then it's just invalid.

I honestly think Liz would've been a pretty deserving winner for a lot of the reasons pointed out. However, she doesn't express/explain herself well so there's no way anyone outside of her alliance could've voted for her.
There's definitely some aspects that came down to luck or just following Austin's lead but the same could be said for Steve / following Vanessa's lead. With that said, Steve was a pretty deserving winner too. Not the greatest but he did his thing to get there and explained himself very well so good for him.
