Default Big Brother: Back to Basics?

This was discussed on the BBCouchPotatoes fansite show yesterday (http://www.spreaker.com/user/drdetro..._medium=widget). Would you like to see Big Brother go back to basics? This would include live feed, a consistent nominations format, very few twists and a break from all the manufactured drama.

Yes and no tbh

I've found normal nominations quite boring for a while but I do sort of want a consistent format back. I'd only want all of this if we had normal noms and a 4 or more up rule with a vote to save. That way we'd never usually lose the essential housemates.

We're going to move further from the original format, I reckon.

I would absolutely love it to be like this, but doubt very much we would get anything like that now.

I want Back to Basics

I'm starting to think BB are giving us what we don't want on purpose like if we want twist they probs go back to basics. I think this because they never listen to the fans

Perhaps it's for the best. When it 1st started it was a good idea because it was described as a social experiment which was interesting to me because at least it had a point, but nowadays it's just a cheap and nasty popularity contest which just humiliates people and tries to get them as drunk, hungry, tired as possible to see how much they can make total fools of themselves.

And then, more often than not, some bloke with either no personality or god-complex wins thousands of pounds. Why should people like that be rewarded?.

I don't know if it'd work, it's nearly a 20 year old format if you go back to the very first BB show

- 11 weeks, 7 rounds of nominations and 3 twists (including a launch night twist).
- Starts on Friday, ends on Friday
- The prize fund is £100,000 and it's FIXED IN PLACE. No removing of the money.
- Housemates of all different religions, ethnicities, habits and backgrounds.

Production do their job for once - sit back and watch drama unfold.

Absolutely but Channel 5 would never do such a thing. The Only Way Is Big Brother is here to stay.

Definitely, we nearly had it tbh this time but producers got cold feet and put in the 4??? We obviously can't go completely back to basics because most of them are media savvy but the final group in there are pretty normal individuals.

Tbh I think that's what the start of this series was supposed to be. There was barely any interference and the housemates developed nice and natural relationships. Ratings were dire. They threw some huge twists in, arguments started, ratings rose. It's not a hard equation for the producers, whether the die hards like it or not.
