The originals chose to save Jack and Chloe... Oh there's a surprise.

It was practically a fix without being one. I don't believe for a moment Danny or Cristian would have let Chloe or Jack go regardless of the amount of money in people's hands and Nick and Joel didn't care enough to argue the point.
