The papadum (singular: papad) is a thin South Asian wafer, sometimes described as a cracker or flatbread, typically made from lentil, chickpea, black gram or rice flour.

Salt and peanut oil are added to make a dough, which can be flavored with seasonings such as, for example, chili, cumin, garlic or black pepper.

The dough is shaped into a tortilla-like round and can be cooked by deep-frying, roasting over an open flame, toasting, or microwaving, depending on the desired texture.

I don't understand the relevance in calling her that... Is it because it's a type of Indian food??

Channel 4 editted out this OVERT racial comment from yesterday prog.

However Channel 4 news has released news they will now show it tonight, as a source of information

On Channel 4 news they've just said Endelmol edited out a comment by Jade calling her "Shilpa Poppadom" .. you cant make it up!!!

I even saw this news story on an ITALIAN satelite channel .. Oh Jade & co ... what pandora's box have you opened up???????????

Why is calling someone a popadom racist? If I call an Italian a pasta? I just think Jade is awful, but just pig ignorant. She is not racist. I think people are over reacting, as people generally do. She has no brain and let her mouth run away with her. She should never have been on the show. But I think she is just too pathetic to truly be a racist.

Its getting a bit silly. I wish people would not be so scared of this racism. Although its wrong, its very light hearted.

Big Brother has questioned Jade over using the name “Shilpa Poppadom”, but she denies that it was intended as a racist comment.

Jade was called to the diary room yesterday and asked about a conversation in which she also called her “Shilpa f**kawhiler”. Jade defended the comment, expalining that she was simply trying to find an indian name for the star, after forgetting her real surname.

“I explained that for the other two trying to get her name out,” she told Big Brother. “Her name is not Shilpa Harry or Shilpa Tweed or Shilpa Mackintosh, she is Indian, so will have an Indian name. No racial anything.

“She is Indian, thinking of an Indian name and only thing I could think of was Indian food. Wasn’t racial at all. It was not to offend any Indian out there

i doubt that this topic spwans into tens of threads, with people defending jade and all this being not really racism, people who are trying to find every little way of getting back, is just rasist them selves

its true people should anylise well, but only a rasist in this case would say there isnt any rasism at all!
