Default Reality TV - 2014 vs. 2015

With reality TV over for the year (I think). I thought I'd do a poll to see which year people have preferred in terms of Reality TV. 2014 or 2015?

I don't watch as much reality TV shows as anybody else, but from the shows I do watch, I'm probably leaning more towards 2014 being better than this year.

Honestly don't know

2015 has had 2 amazing CBB's and my fave won I'm A Celeb and I guess civilian Big Brother so I'll vote this year. TA and XF was poor and better last year though - but I don't like them as much as the shows that were good this year.

Out of the ones I do watch:

January CBB - CBB13 and CBB15
Both brilliant series, but I preferred CBB13 much more to CBB15. CBB13 also being my 2nd favourite CBB series. So 1 point to 2014.

Civilian BB - BB15 and BB16
Both civilian series have been absolutely dire. But BB15 edges it slightly for me. Another point for 2014.

Summer CBB - CBB14 and CBB16
No contest. CBB16 amazing series. CBB14 trash. 1 point to 2015.

TA - TA10 and TA11
Having watched TA10 a few weeks back, I think it's much better than this years series (which is decent at best). TA10 2014 takes this one.

IAC - IAC14 and IAC15
Now this one is an unpopular one as last years series isn't too popular on here whereas this years is often regarded as "the best since 2012". But I have to be honest, this years IAC failed to grip me. I found myself missing a few episodes and not caring. There were good characters, but I just couldn't be arsed with the show. Maybe it's the show or maybe it's me idk, but I felt a lack of excitement with this year as opposed to previous years, so I'm going with 2014 for IAC. As I enjoyed/committed to it more.

4-1 to 2014. The only thing 2015 did better this year was the summer CBB imo. Some would also say IAC, but not for me.

I think the only major (UK) reality show that was better last year than this was The Apprentice? I guess X Factor too but I think that's been terrible for a few years now so I'm probably not the one to ask

I don't watch XF anymore (haven't since 2011). But I've heard this year was better as it had more talent, but then again the ratings have dropped and some people are wishing it is axed. I think it's safe to say XF is just...crap

CBB13 vs CBB15

Both two of my favourite CBBs. Both in my top five for sure. However, I slightly preferred CBB15 and I know that's quite an unpopular opinion but I found each episode entertaining from start to finish.

Winner: CBB15 (2015)

CBB14 vs CBB16

As much as I think CBB14 is underrated and gets too much criticism it isn't anything special but CBB16 is my favourite Summer CBB ever and only narrowly misses out on my top five CBB series.

Winner: CBB16 (2015)

BB15 vs BB16

Both are terrible and manage to score less than 5/10 on how they rate as a series. At the time of airing I slightly preferred BB16 but looking back BB15 is slightly better.

Winner: BB15 (2014)

BBCan2 vs BBCan3

While I enjoyed watching both series this year, the clear winner is BBCan2 for me. BBCan3 is sure still a pretty good series but BBCan2 is in my top ten RTV series of all time.

Winner: BBCan2 (2014)

IAC14 vs IAC15

For me IAC14 was a shocking series. It wasn't as bad as IAC13 but it was still pretty bad. IAC15 however is probably in my top three IAC series. I throughly enjoyed this series it peaked at the start I suppose but it was still good even near the end.

Winner: IAC15 (2015)

TA10 vs TA11

At the time of TA10 airing I wasn't particularly thrilled with it as a series but it was following on from my favoruite series ever TA9. Looking back I think TA10 is a actually a pretty decent series. Meanwhile TA11 was very wishy washy from start to finish.

Winner: TA10 (2014)

TXF11 vs TXF12

While both have been pretty crap series of TXF. TXF12 is the better series for me. The downfall of this years series was the reduced amount of live shows meaning that some of the amazing talent the show had went too early before they flourished. While TXF11 did produce Queen Fleur the rest of the talent isn't much to comment on.

Winner: TXF12 (2015)

Overall winner: 2015 (4 points)

Winter CBB: 13>15

Whilst it was a brilliant series (for me, mainly due to the greatest housemate of all time Perez Hilton), by the last two weeks it was just a drag to watch. Whereas, last year's CBB I recall enjoying all the way through to the final.

BBCAN: 2>3

I haven't quite finished watching BBCAN3 yet, but again, I remember enjoying 2 all the way through, whereas I got quite frustrated with some of the gameplay in this years season.

Spoiler:

Sarah was a great winner though.

Big Brother UK: Let's just not. Both series were just awful.

Summer CBB:16>14

I loved both series (apart from the whole Ricci/Lauren thing in CBB14 and ****ing James Jordan), but I feel that Janice delivered more than Gary, plus this year's cast delivered a bit more than last years.

The X Factor: 2014>2015

I loved Mel on the panel, so I felt that she didn't need to be switched out for Rita (whom I found largely disappointing on The Voice). I also love Louis Walsh, so I was horrified when he was switched out for Nick ****ing Grimshaw. Also, I struggled to find someone to properly root for throughout the competition this time round.

The Apprentice: 2014>2013

Similarly to The X Factor, the loss of Nick from the boardroom was huge. I like Claude during the interview stage but he seemed a bit boring in the boardroom? Again, I also found it hard to find someone to root for (I also stopped watching it when I'm A Celeb came on, then started watching when it finished).

I'm A Celeb: 2015>2014

Lady C, a perfect final two and a consistent series easily trumps 2014 for me (it still baffles me why they chose Jake Quickenflop to enter as an intruder and how Foggy won).

As a side note, if BBAU was on this year, I'd like to hope that it would have been much better than last year's series (Priya was the only good thing about it). However, considering that they copied the Power Trip theme a bit last year I can't help but feel that they may have attempted to model their series on Timebomb.

Overall result: 2014>2015

BB15 > BB16 (marginal I know but at least it felt as if there was a slim chance of the good guys winning)
CBB13/14 > CBB15/16
Drag Race 6 >>>>>>>>> most seasons let alone the abysmal 7
and the finalists for TXF were much better than last year's even if the show itself was managed about as well as Lucas' beard in COL2.

So 2014 wins for me.

The X Factor, Civilian Big Brother, and Strictly Come Dancing was all better last year imo.

Celebrity Big Brother and I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here might've been better this year overall though I feel.

CBB15 > CBB13
CBB16 > CBB14
BBUK 16 > BBUK 15
BBUS 17 > BBUS 16
BBCAN 2 > BBCAN 3
BBAUS 11 > No BBAUS at all (even though BB11 was crap)
The X Factor 2014 > The X Factor 2015
The Apprentice 2014 > The Apprentice 2015

Half and half but 2015 wins because CBB15 and CBB16 were the best series from the past couple of years imo.

This year for sure. One of my favourite winter CBB series, The civilian one was better than the previous 2, The Bake Off was great from start to finish and The X Factor had more talent than its had for years and a great winner.

Not you changing your profile favourites after the winners have been announced

But I agree. 2015's winners were far better than 2014's. Especially for CBB.
