On Monday their first day the paper
from the Mirror group is free one day only. then 25p on Tuesday for a week or 2 then up to 50P. its meant to be like the metro? The lady from "New Day" (On Marr) confirmed its free on its start day - only http://www.theguardian.com/media/gre...-new-newspaper Last edited by arista; 05-05-2016 at 05:45 AM. |

Newspapers are a dying industry imo. It's a decent enough marketing attempt but I don't think it'll help them much long term.

Oh I kind of misunderstood I think actually, I thought it was an existing paper that was going to start having a free Monday edition. I still can't see a new newspaper being hugely successful though due to the way the industry is.

Why would people go to the trouble of buying it when the Metro and Evening Standard are free

They missed a major opportunity not having this on the adverts for the paper:

I can see it succeeding. The i has been a big success and it makes sense to try and compete in that market of concise but serious news considering that the i has an uncertain future with the Indy closing. Apparently it won't really have editorials or opinion columns though which puts me off because they're the most interesting part of the paper |

Southport is a pretty big town, a free paper that you get on public transport in primarily big urban areas is not the same as a national newspaper that all retailers will stock

Got today's free copy and it's bloody crap, only about three pages of actual news and even then the columns are all just a couple of inches. Layout is all confused as well, there's a sport page halfway through and then a few more pages of lifestyle crap and a world news page and then it goes back to sport at the end
