If you like unusual films try Perfume - The Story of a Murderer from 2006. It is a sort of cult modern classic.

I'm going to put my vote to The Usual Suspects as i have that film on my Now TV movie pack, i've never seen it before, and the casting looks really good, plus it's got a 5 star rating (on Now TV).

I will watch the Usual Suspects sometime this weekend... I don't recall ever having seen it before... so it should be an interesting watch

on a side note... I have been introducing my son to the Die Hard franchise.... the first one was so classic late 80's ... really funny to rewatch, and Alan Rickman was such an iconic bad guy.
We have seen three now... but my feelings are it can only get worse

You should have stopped after the first, rarely will you get any sequel with heart and soul put into it, sequels are more "First one did well, let's make another" ch-ching.

And never seen Usual Suspects? where you been?

if it were up to me I would have stopped at the first... but my son is actually loving them all... I think the 3rd on was so OTT that we both laughed our way through it. It's kind of a fun watch when you are mocking it the whole time

And I don't know where I have been to have never watched Ususal Suspects
From about 95' to 2001 I was living life outdoors with my friendss and didn't do a lot of movie or tv time, so I missed a lot of pop culture then. But they were good times

I haven't seen any of the Die Hard films but the original is one of those films that I feel like I should watch (just because everyone else seems to have).

You're in good company Mokka, i've never seen The Usual Suspects either, seems like i've been under the same rock as you

The first Die Hard is the best, love Alan Rickman

Oh I forgot to review The Usual Suspects, I rewatched on Saturday

Spoiler:

The film as a whole isn't outstanding, it's good but not amazing ...........until that last 5 minutes. I got great enjoyment from watching my daughter react to it. Her jaw dropped lol Still hasn't been topped in 20 years imo

if it weren't for the ending I'd give it a 7.5/10 but that ending (for me anyway because endings are massively important to me) bumps it right up to a 9/10

The Usual Suspects:

Spoiler:

Watched 'The Usual Suspects' last night and it was the second time I've seen it, the first time was a few years ago and I remember loving it. Watching it again, I still loved it, but it's the kind of film where a second viewing is a completely different experience.

There are so many small moments that I enjoyed this time that you can't appreciate on first watch without knowing the ending but aside from those, it just made me appreciate how cleverly written and structured it is. The fact that they have Kint (Spacey) narrating the story is what makes the ending such a surprise because when a movie is narrated, there's almost an unquestionable trust associated with that. You would never think that the narrator is actually lying to you the whole time and telling you a completely false version of events because that's what movies have taught us, so when the rug is pulled up at the end it makes it all the more surprising, which is what sets this apart from the usual type of 'twist ending' movie. I'd go as far to say that it's one of my (if not my absolute) favourite plot twists in any movie, because not only is it so brilliantly executed but it makes you reconsider every scene and every line of the film. Every character, every motivation behind their actions. Just the whole thing! It almost a demands a rewatch so I'm glad I finally have.

It's also quite an odd experience watching it for a second time though, and in some ways frustrating for the same reasons that I mentioned above (knowing that the story you are watching is mostly fabricated by Kint). I did feel at times a little bit like I wanted to know the real events of what happened so it was kind of weird in that respect, watching it knowing that you're being lied to. That being said though, it didn't detract from my overall enjoyment of the film, it was just something I found myself thinking at certain points.

Even after watching it for a second time, there's still aspects of it that I'm not totally clear on. I don't know if that's just me, or if I'm not meant to be clear on it all, or if I still don't fully understand it, but regardless, it makes me think that when/if I watch it for a third time, I'll enjoy it just as much and be just as engrossed which is another reason why I think this a brilliant film. Whilst some films I think are confusing for the sake of it, or overly frustrating, this film for me has a perfect balance where although I'm still left confused by some aspects, I know that without some confusion, it simply wouldn't be the same film or the same story, and it's the overall experience of this film that I love. So I still feel satisfied watching it even if I don't completely 'get' it at times

The performance are fantastic too. I can't fault any of them but the stand out ones for me were Benicio del Toro, Stephen Baldwin, Kevin Spacey and Pete Postlethwaite.

I'd give it 9/10.

Loads of favourite moments, but this was the most gifable

I actually was looking at who's online and I saw you reading this thread lol and it reminded me that I hadn't written my review

In regards to your review, that whole line up scene apparently was meant to be serious but Benicio Del Torro farted at the start of it and all the actors couldn't stop laughing and they actually decided to use that instead, so alot of that scene isn't even acting

Oh right haha! Really? I didn't know that. It's probably one of the most famous scenes too

Hey everyone

Here's my review on The Usual Suspects:

Spoiler:

I have to admit that i wasn't that blown away by it, maybe i don't appreciate it for what it is, i found the first hour difficult to understand what was going on, the last half hour was good with more action, yes it was a clever twist but i've seen movies like this before, and they have been better executed. I love Kevin Spacey anyway, in my eyes he can do no wrong, Gabriel Byrnes was excellent as was Stephen Baldwin (loved the line up scene). Maybe if i watch it a second time i'll get it more, i found some of the dialogue difficult to understand which is a bug bear of mine, and if i'm really honest i still don't think i know totally what the film was about or the plot line:/ so for me 5/10 but this mark may change if i see it again and gain a better understanding of the film/plotline.
