I was going to do a contest where you have rounds and don't tag the images, so each round you vote not knowing who's banner is who's. But I'm not sure, people seem to prefer this one.

Yeah, or viewers could've chosen finalists.

I've entered several competitions but not had one picked, but I suppose the other banners were better? I reckon more people should have an input though.

Not sure if I'll bother either, takes too much effort!

Sorry but that kind of invalidates everyones efforts.

So my entry is only up cos I'm in a "clique" ? Don't think I will bother next time either.

It doesn't invalidate everyones effort. As far as I can see the usual suspects in most cases have been chosen again. I didn't mean any offence Lauren but to me it seems mostly like a club

You wouldnt be calling it a sham if you were through.

I chose what were in my opinion the best banners , not "people in the click"

Do you really think i would have put Markus' through if i was putting people i like through? I rest my case.

Talk about bad losers. Thank to all those who didnt get through who are supporting everyon elses, its a competition! Cheer up!

- I put which i though were the best banners through, sorry if you dont agree with that but whoever i put through, others will have to lose, im sorry but thats the game

I do think more people should have been included in the final vote-off (Ash, Simon, Sophie, yourself).
I just felt that when you said the only people through are because they're in a sort of clique it seemed like you were invalidating everyones efforts because they only got in because of a "club" as opposed to any type of talent.
And this is the first time I've entered/gotten through so I don't think that is the case.

I feel insulted when people say I put my "friends" though. I tried to judge this competition as fairly as I could.

Snig and Markus have disagreed on stuff yeah, but I think what he meant was that it didn’t affect results. Certain peoples’ banners always get in probably because they’re really good. This time, Emilee and Lauren – new people – got in too. The only thing I think would improve this competition is more input from people as to which banners are picked, rather than just one persons’ view, because it takes a lot of effort as you can appreciate! For some they can just pick out old banners instead of making some especially!

Aside from that, I’ve given my vote and will support you all – and well done to EVERYONE that took part!

I agree with you Ash. I do feel more input could have been put into the deciding aspect of this competition, because there are a lot of peoples banners who I feel deserved to go through that didn't.

Well it would be fairer then just having you judging the banners. Everyone would be involved, and the voting would be less troublesome.

Having read this topic I can see why people feel the way they do. Everyone who entered the competition put a lot of effort into their banners given their experience of using the various graphic packages . Further to this I also understand how people feel about how the judging. For example, it would, having looked at the original topic, seem unfair that one of the judges has an entry in the final. Surely it would have been better if the judges couldn't enter the competition. Another clear problem was the shifting closing date which was originally set sometime in March. It is clear that the system of judging has caused a lot of bad feeling and for understandable reasons.

I suggest that in future competitions you have clear rules that everyone understands and that a method is devised so that everyone that enters has their work up for some kind of public vote in a heats phase. May be something like this:

In the heats phase the banners could be posted in groups of say 9 or 10 with people then picking their top 3 in order over a period of a couple of days. 5 points could be given for every banner rated first, 3 for second and 1 for third and the points totalled up. This would give three banners from the original heat making it through to the next round. The final could also be scored in the same sort of way.

To stop lots of entries I would suggest limiting the number of banners that can be put through to the final vote. So for example people are only allowed two entries. This will reduce the number of banners going through to heats and will make sure people enter their best work.

By having no Judges you would avoid problems like the ones caused by this competitions.
