Silly man, why should Ireland give the UK votes if they didn't like the song.

The problem with Lucie's song was that like many others, it was a little over performed, with unnecessary near shouting.
I like shouting in songs to stress or enhance part of the song, however it is not always best to do little else.

In a contest like this with many songs being performed like that much the same way,it often will be the 'different' more sedate performance will get noticed and more appreciated in my opinion.

Ireland like the lilting more gently performed songs,Dana romping home ages ago with 'all kinds of everything ' also Johnny Logan and 'What's another year' to name just 2.

Clearly the UK entry while being better than maybe other years, didn't strike a chord with Ireland,so no votes, which Ireland are perfectly in their rights to not give if they weren't keen on the song and/or performance.

I don't think Ireland has a "type" of song, and those two mentioned were from decades ago

Very true but I think there were 2 brothers too who won with a simple tune too.

Often Ireland wins are with the ballad.

Ah yeah fair point, it would be nice to see them make the main show next year, I don't care where they place, makes the voting more interesting for me when they and the UK are involved

awww no, I love the Eurovision, my husband and I have watched it together for the last 40 years, never missed a year, having a referendum could destroy what has become a tradition in my home

Lucie was really good but I'm glad Polands won, I loved the song and thought it well deserved.

Arguably, Australia is more European than Russia... and they've been in it for years. Though not this year, for obvious reasons.

The strange thing for me was that Ireland have always given the UK some points, even when the song was dire...which the entries have been for some time now. This year it was a good song and a good performance, and nada...
Not on.

Maybe there were other countries that were better this year, why should Ireland give England points...we have no loyalty to anywhere, so why would anywhere show us any?

It's almost as if something has fundamentally changed about the UK in the last year, and how it's viewed by the rest of the world. Can't think what that might be though

This is true. It's all political bollocks. It's been that way for aslong as i've been watching Eurovision(which has only been occasionally).I seem to remember saying the same when the Iraq war happened.

The was a good song, it was called Rock'n'Roll Kids

I think we need to stop thinking about what we think is a winning formula and go back to our roots, next year try something really Irish

Like every other TV singing competition, it's a popularity contest not a talent contest. When was the last time the "best singer" won something like The X Factor? People just vote for who they like, regardless of their performance...

...and people don't like the UK very much. Even less right now.

Like, if Scotland had a separate entry we would blates come in the top 3 every year
