Deborah said she was born in Nigeria, and raised in East London. She's putting on the accent but the ease of it shows it's likely one she may adopt when speaking with her family or community, many of whom will be first generation Nigerian immigrants. It's not difficult to understand, unless of course you haven't mixed with many people from varied backgrounds.

She's in the DR talking to BB in case you hadn't noticed, i could maybe understand it if she was talking to Hannah, I doubt the BB she is speaking to is Nigerian

Her parents and community are nigerian, we've heard her speak with a nigerian accent before but not much since she doesn't get much screentime. I don't get how Deborah speaking in the accent of her family is such an offence. It's the same when someone has a strong Welsh accent like Kayleigh or a strong Scottish accent like Andrew. Some people need to chill

Who said she can only adopt the accent when speaking to someone of Nigerian heritage? Perhaps she finds it more emotive to adopt this accent when she's being light hearted or criticising someone in a facetious manner (like questioning Raph's flirting techniques). Unless people have forgotten Pauline would do the exact same thing when she got angry, and would break into different accents when criticising others. Ellie's accent becomes exaggerated when she's in the diary room trying to be comedic, Jackson's accent would change between a soft spoken dialect and wannabe roadman depending on how he was feeling. This isn't an unusual or new phenomena in Big Brother (or life for that matter).

Perhaps I'm remembering wrong, but I thought early on she claimed she was born in Nigeria whilst Hannah was born in London. Either way it doesn't change the context of what I or others have said about the change in accent.

Watching it back its like she is putting on an exaggerated African accent for a theatre show

I think the question should be why?

and why the actual fck is she OBSESSED with Tom?

(and its been noted and discussed on DS too)

im pretty sure i know EXACTLY why she does this

Its her way of saying nasty stuff but making sure that she can hide behind the race card, dare anyone pull her up

Its sneaky, yes and its effective (witness her apologists) but these 2 vile women will stop at nothing for self aggrandisement - its their main drive, their sole purpose

...and its terrifying to watch

And this is relevant how? Again, she has Nigerian heritage so the use of an accent isn't surprising. There isn't a written rule that one can only use an accent when in the company of those who also use it ... in that case should Ellie tone it down unless BB is from Yorkshire?

The accent is put on but its just a thing a lot of people in London do. Like a lot of my friends dip in and out of the african accent. It's done in a jokey way but a lot of times you do it without realising.

not sure why people do it but at times done when lecturing someone, its meant to be funny like you're imitating your african elders (parents, aunties etc).
Toya did it also but heres another example of someone raised in London who does it.

Spoiler:

also not understanding how doing an african accent is a way of getting votes but hey ho....

Yes the accent is exaggerated because its meant to be funny but really this is something you're not going to get because you're all so obsessed with making the sisters look like villains.
