Default Makes a good point

Sue made a good point on BOTS last night after people were grilling her about seeing Queen. She said that Queen is just a puppy and was probably already confused that her owner had left her and where she was. Then she started barking. After that they saw each other through the glass, where Queen had seen Sue for the first in around 10 days and got very excited. "What kind of dog owner would I be to just leave her there?"

I thought this was a good point and made me see it in a different perspective, rather than "it's only a pet"

Anybody else agree with me?

Yes a person would understand what was going on, a dog wouldn't. It would have been cruel not to spend time with the dog

I'd would honestly react the same as Sue. I love my dogs to bits and I'd feel terrible if I just walked away from them.

Tbh I didn't think Sue needed to explain it. People with strong empathy towards animals (particularly dogs) seem to get it, and Id find it much easier to turn down a human than my dog in the house simply because the dog doesn't have the same capacity to understand what's going on.

yes same for me, but she's only in the house for 10 days, if she loves her dog that much why sign up for BB when you know you'll be away from your dog

Yeah, I didnt go off her at all for pulling the cord. Maybe she shouldnt have spent the day implying that she wouldnt pull it but, I cant blame her for doing it in that situation.

I wouldn't pull the chord for my mum but I would for my dog because she wouldn't know what's going on! I am COMPLETELY on Sue's side with this.

I agree sue did the right thing, as the dog didn't understand what was going on whereas as person would.

It would be similar to walking away from a child.

Because the dog could actually see and hear Sue, and was clearly dying to see her hence the barking then it's understandable why she did it. Dogs get easily distressed, I think it's cruel tbh. Like Jason's dog last year when he said no, the poor thing could sense that he was there.

Why are people specifically singling out Sue. What about all of the other second chance housemates that used energy. And Tom who used the most out of the whole house?

I love my dogs and I am sure I would have pulled that cord, but you never know until your in that situation, you know the other housemates aren't going to die,lol but still you want to do whats right, a letter would be easy to ignore, and even another person as they know why you would ignore them, but a dog would expect lots of mummy cuddles and fuss, but leaving them again would be unsettling again,so ,it's a difficult one, but,I'm pretty sure I would have pulled it.Dogs are sentient and capable of feelings,Isobelle needs to learn that, she is a dodgy one her.

So why only Sue? Sues 'treat' was actual time spent with a family member (yes it was a dog, but many see dogs as part of the family). Surely this is more important than a letter that the other 2 newbies took.

Yes Sue did make a good point about the dog not understanding and stuff. I thought this before she said it. I said the same about Jason and his dog last year. I don't think BB should put pets in actually when there is a chance the housemate may say no...as its very cruel to the pet.

I was wondering last night, how BB decides who gets a phonecall..who gets a visit, who gets a video and who gets a letter. As time spent with the actual person (or dog as it were) is obviously the preferable one. Though I understand they wouldn't put actual children in and for good reason...

I mean I do get her point about traumatizing a dog, but like Charlotte said it's also traumatizing to leave it for a month to go on a dying reality television show.

And then once Charlotte pointed that out Sue started implying that she shouldn't have seen Mandy bc they were in the house together for four days.

I would have pulled the cord immediately if I'd seen mine sitting behind the glass. You would have to have a heart of stone to walk away from them.
