Episode 2 – "Threesomes Have More Fun"
Part 3

Day 6
The following morning, the tribes gather once again for their latest immunity challenge:

One person from each tribe must swim out to a platform, climb to the top, smash a tile, and retrieve a key. Then the next person goes. Once all five keys are collected, one person must use those keys to open a box and retrieve a ball. The remaining two tribe members must use that ball to break five tiles. The first tribe to break all five tiles wins immunity.

With Edwina sitting out, Kenton, Kristin and Jordan lead the tribe to another victory, with tile-smashers Steadman and Justin bringing home the win. As Berajilo celebrate their second consecutive immunity, Judge Judy tells a disappointed Honifor that she’ll be seeing them at Tribal Council tonight.

“Thank god for that idol clue!” Theresa laughs in a confessional as Honifor return to their beach, facing another Tribal Council. She says that while it was not her original intention to share the clue with Chris, it is in fact a strong move as it will form an almost unbreakable bond between the two. However, she also says that she is “no fool”, and knows that in order to survive she’ll have to do more than make one friend. Exploring her options, she approaches Kyle, who is engaging in some shirtless wood chopping by the fire. She explains that she views Kyle as the kingpin of the current alliance, and that it would be highly beneficial for her game if she were able to get into his back pocket. Theresa explains her worries regarding her position in the game to Kyle, and he says that he understands why she is panicking. He tells her that if he hears anyone discussing writing down her name, he’ll be the first to let her know. In a confessional, Kyle says that he’s grown to view Theresa as a mother figure recently, “although given the number of… let’s say wild thoughts I’ve had about Theresa, maybe my mother isn’t the best comparison.”

During Theresa and Kyle’s conversation, Aubin and Alicia sit to one side, boiling water. Aubin notices their flirty body language and wonders if something more than the usual ‘save me’ plea is going on. He talks to Alicia about this, and she agrees that Theresa could pull Kyle away from their alliance. Fearing that Theresa is making connections faster than anyone else, Aubin goes to talk with Callum (who has now completed his shell replica of the Millennium Falcon, and has moved onto building the TARDIS out of sand) in order to explore his options, following their earlier conversation. Immediately, Callum fears for his life in the game and apologises to Aubin for his poor performance in the challenge, as he and Takondwa were the two tile-smashers. Aubin confesses that someone like Callum could be used an easy number going forward, although his tendency to run his mouth could cause problems later down the line. In turn, Callum confesses that he is wary of Aubin, and wonders if him suddenly making an effort to talk to him is an attempt to lull him into a false sense of security before the vote.

By now, Theresa has offered to help Kyle with chopping wood, with Chris standing by to collect additional wood if necessary. Kyle has noticed that Aubin has been speaking to Callum for a while, and tells Theresa that he thinks he’s been acting strangely. “Not the kind of thing a loyal person does, huh?” Kyle asks, aiming to gauge Theresa’s thoughts. Seeing a potential crack in the alliance, she immediately suggests voting out Aubin for being a flipper. Kyle, mid-chop, says he’ll think about it. “After all,” he says in a confessional. “Alliances are like jelly at this point. We’re still waiting for them to set.” Chris, who has been witness to this conversation, tells in a separate confessional of how nervous it made him, explaining that he has been loyal to Aubin ever since their “lawyer handshake” on day two, and wants to work with him above anyone else – including Theresa. Therefore, he considers it beneficial to his game to vote out somebody like Callum, who he has been unable to crack, and believes that using a potential idol on Aubin would help build trust going forward. Telling the tribe that he would go and collect more wood, Chris rushes into the jungle and takes the clue out of his pocket, desperate to have some control over the vote amongst the unfolding madness. He finds the location of the idol on a map and begins to dig frantically.

The castaways gather around the camp fire as the sun begins to set. Takondwa whispers to Aubin if, as they had all seemingly silently agreed following the immunity challenge loss, Callum was the easy vote tonight. He nods, and she relaxes, asking him to “rub grandma’s foot for her.” Meanwhile, Theresa goes looking for Chris, who has been missing for several hours. “It’s odd,” she says in a confessional just before Tribal Council. “He was supposed to be looking for firewood. Surely he can’t be hunting for the idol? If we’re all voting for Callum, why would Chris need the idol? Trust me, if that boy’s taken my idol, I’m going to give him a right good spanking.”

Chris returns at the last minute as the castaways collect their torches and make their way to Tribal Council. Theresa glares at his pockets and then into his guilty eyes. Chris looks away. In a confessional, Kyle says that there are currently plans all over the place, leading to “one confused Honifor”, and that making the wrong decision tonight could lead to catastrophic consequences for the tribe later down the line.

Episode 2 – "Threesomes Have More Fun"
Part 4

Tribal Council, Night 6
At Tribal Council, Judge Judy sits the castaways down and immediately begins her line of questioning. She turns to Alicia and talks to her about the challenge, asking if there were any weak links and, “as a personal trainer”, whether the decision that she’s making tonight will help to build a stronger tribe. Alicia confesses that yes, some members of the tribe are weaker than others, as the camera cuts to Callum and Takondwa. However, she follows this up by saying that, in the words of Lisa Whelchel, this is just a fact of life, and challenge performance is only one thing that they must take into consideration when casting their vote. Judy then asks Takondwa what the mood was like at camp this afternoon. She replies that from where she was sitting (by the fire, with her feet up), the afternoon was a peaceful one, and there was no “crazy scrambling.” However, Theresa shakes her head, and says that there are some things that Takondwa is better off not knowing. Judy then turns to Chris and begins asking a question about whether or not idols have been discussed, but Callum, who has been wringing his hands for the last ten minutes, cuts in and shouts “I’m voting for Takondwa again!”, leading to a stunned silence. As Callum curls up in the foetal position, Judy says that the tribe had better get to the vote, before anyone accidentally blabs the nuclear launch codes.

---

Kyle (vote not shown): “If this backfires, I won’t just have egg on my face. I’ll be the whole damn omelette.”

---

Judge Judy collects and tallies the votes. Before reading them, she asks if anyone has a hidden immunity idol, as if so, now would be the time to play it. After a brief pause, Chris stands up, and Theresa glares at him once again. He walks over to Judy and asks for the idol to be played on Aubin. Aubin sits up, confused and surprised. Judy confirms that any votes cast for Aubin will not count, as Chris sits back down, shaking a perplexed Aubin's hand as he does so. She then reads the votes…

“First vote… Callum…”

“Second vote… Takondwa…”

“Third vote… Callum…”

“Fourth vote… Callum…”

Callum nods in acceptance of his fate.

“Second person voted out of Survivor: Judge Island… Callum.”

“Callum, that’s four, that’s enough,” Judy says as Callum goes to collect his torch, awkwardly shaking the hand of every member of the tribe as he does so. Once his torch is snuffed, he mimes “call me” to Alicia and leaves the Tribal Council area quietly. Judy reminds the remaining six Honifors that they may have been united in their votes tonight, but now that their numbers are dwindling, the cracks will almost definitely begin to show soon. She then bids them goodnight as they leave the Tribal Council area.

The votes in full:

Spoiler:

Alicia – Callum
Aubin – Callum
Callum – Takondwa
Chris – Callum
Kyle – Callum
Takondwa – Callum
Theresa – Callum

Episode 3 – "The Rice Thief of Judge Island"
Part 1

Night 6
Despite two consecutive visits to Tribal Council, Honifor return to camp in high spirits, although they all agree that they will miss Callum and his many quirks, offering to leave the Millennium Falcon that he constructed out of shells in its place as a permanent memorial. Reflecting on the night’s events, Chris confesses that he doesn’t regret playing his idol for Aubin, even though it was clear by the time of Tribal Council that Callum was going home. He says that he views staying true to himself and his gut instincts as the best way to play the game, and he’ll risk whatever he has to do so – especially as he is playing first and foremost for his childhood sweetheart girlfriend Stephanie, for whom he would like to buy “the fanciest engagement ring in town” if he wins. “The only problem is damage control with Theresa,” he laughs, remembering that in order to make the move that he did, he “sort of stole her idol”.

The tribes, as they currently stand:

Spoiler:

Day 7
The next morning at Berajilo, Kristin and Hallie go for a walk in the jungle, during which Kristin aims to tell Hallie about the “threesome alliance” that she is proposing with Jordan. However, Hallie soon loses control over her bladder, and rushes off into a bush to relieve herself. While she waits for Hallie to finish, Kristin leans against a tree. All of a sudden, the tree gives way and falls to the ground, luckily just missing her. As she observes the fallen tree, she realises that it is not in fact a tree at all, but is actually a nifty little structure made out of papier-mâché. She pokes at the bark, which is really just several layers of paper painted brown, and feels a shape underneath. She tears through the paper and, to her surprise, finds a hidden immunity idol. She squeals in excitement but soon regains her composure, and tucks the idol into her waistband as a clueless Hallie emerges from the bush. In a confessional, Kristin says that letting Hallie in on the threesome alliance will have to wait, as she currently has more important, idol-shaped things on her mind.

Back at Honifor, Aubin, Chris and Kyle attempt to go fishing, but fail to catch anything substantial due to their lack of equipment. When Kyle leaves to find the tribe’s spear, Chris explains to Aubin why he played his idol on him at the previous night’s Tribal Council. Aubin is grateful, and says that he was only confused because he wasn’t aware that he was in any danger of leaving to begin with. When asked if he’d heard anyone mention his name, Chris mimes “Kyle”, but quickly ends the conversation when he sees Kyle returning with the spear. Chris and Aubin share a knowing wink and head their separate ways. Later, Theresa approaches Chris, saying in a confessional that she wanted to ensure that there was no bad blood regarding Chris’ use of the idol they had already agreed to share. For his part, Chris tells her not to worry, and agrees to unite his two separate alliances with Theresa and Aubin into one in future as to avoid confusion. When talk moves away from strategy, Theresa wonders aloud what her daughter would think how she was coping so far. “You have a daughter?” asks an interested Chris. “From one of my ex-husbands, yes,” she replies, opening up. “I forget which one.” On the subject of marriage, Chris in turn shares his story about hoping to propose to his girlfriend after the show, to which Theresa says with a smile, “go for it, kid.”

Kristin and Hallie return to Berajilo beach following their walk. Hallie goes for a dip in the sea, while Kristin goes to hide her newly-acquired idol in her bag. She is met in the shelter by Justin and Kenton, who have noticed that the two girls have been spending a lot of time together; something that the boys think they can use to their advantage. In a confessional, Kenton says that he and Justin have already formed a “bro-lliance” (he takes the time to explain that this is a cross between the word “bro” and the word “alliance”), and bringing in two “babes” to boost their numbers would give them a majority in the tribe, seeing as the others are so divided. Justin dissects the other four castaways, confessing that he doesn’t see any of them as threats, as they are either “oldies” (Edwina, Steadman) or “misfits” (Rachelle, Jordan). Kristin then gives a confessional saying that she has doubts over how quick the men were to including she and Hallie in their alliance, and that if she does commit to the foursome, it will create a conflict of interest with her and Hallie’s existing alliance with Jordan. Hallie, meanwhile, is in the sea, pretending to be a mermaid.

Episode 3 – "The Rice Thief of Judge Island"
Part 2

Day 8
The following day sees another reward challenge. Berajilo enter the challenge area first, where they are greeted by Judge Judy, followed by Honifor. “Berajilo, take a look at the new Honifor tribe,” Judy says, as Berajilo try to work out which of their rivals is missing. “Callum, voted out at the last Tribal Council.” They shrug. Judy then explains that today’s challenge is as follows:

Three players at a time (all of the same sex) start on opposing boat-shaped pontoons, connected by two beams, and must attempt to force all participating members of the other tribe into the water to score a point. First tribe to three wins reward, and has the choice of either fishing gear or comfort items.

Rachelle and Steadman are chosen to sit out of the challenge for Berajilo. Following a close-fought battle between the strongest members of each tribe, an ecstatic Honifor pull off their first challenge win. Without so much as a second thought, they pick the fishing gear reward, and dance out of the challenge carrying rods, bait and a net.

Honifor, on a high from their challenge win but also incredibly hungry from a lack of fish, get to work immediately. Theresa and Chris work the net as Aubin, Kyle and Alicia pull in fish after fish with their rods. Takondwa, meanwhile, has been excused from fishing duties due to her ankle injury, and is once again sat with her foot in the sea. In a confessional, she smiles that the technique is working. “This morning, I was able to walk around on it without any pain. Next thing you know, I’ll be tap dancing this time tomorrow. It’s a Hanukkah miracle and I'm not even Jewish!” After about two hours of hard work, the fisherpeople of Honifor have collected enough for a feast. They all sit around the fire and enjoy the various fishy delicacies of Judge Island, as cooked expertly by Chef Kyle. However, Aubin confesses that Chris’ earlier words are still ringing in his ears. “I do trust Kyle, but I trust Chris more, and when you hear from someone you trust so much that someone else has been plotting to get you out… it’s not a good feeling, I can tell you that much. I’ll be sleeping with one eye open tonight.”

Food is also the main topic of conversation over at Berajilo, but this time it’s the rice that has people talking. Steadman has noticed that a considerable portion of the tribe’s rice rations have gone missing since they last ate earlier in the day, and wonders if anyone is willing to own up to being the culprit. When he gets no response, he enlists the help of Justin and Rachelle to track down “the rice thief of Judge Island.” Steadman, taking his responsibilities very seriously, quizzes each of his tribemates individually, but Rachelle is quick to blame Edwina for the disappearance. “I bet it was her,” she says several times. “I don’t trust her.” Steadman shrugs and gets junior officer Justin to interview Edwina again, on the off-chance that Rachelle’s hunch is correct. “That bitch!” Edwina exclaims upon hearing of Rachelle’s accusation, before apologising to the viewers at home for her coarse language. “Of course it wasn’t me,” she continues, offended that Rachelle would say such a thing. “I’d never steal food from anybody here. That woman’s out to cause trouble, I tell you.” Justin thanks Edwina for her time and leaves the shelter to report back to Steadman. Amidst the chaos, Kenton sits with Hallie at the far side of the shelter, quietly telling her that their new alliance has very little to worry about when it comes to competition.

Episode 3 – "The Rice Thief of Judge Island"
Part 3

Day 9
A day later, and the tribes meet once again to compete in their next immunity challenge. Judge Judy takes back the immunity idol (a wooden bust in the shape of Judy’s bailiff, Officer Byrd) from Jordan, who quips that Berajilo will easily be able to win it back for a third time. Judy raises her eyebrow and explains how today's challenge will work:

One person from each tribe will be the caller. The rest of the tribe will be blindfolded and paired up. Using only verbal commands, the caller will direct their tribe mates to collect ten items scattered in the field. Once all ten items have been collected, the caller will direct one pair out to find a set of keys. Those keys will unlock a chest. The first tribe to get their chest and all ten items back to the start wins immunity.

Edwina and Hallie sit out for Berajilo, with Kyle and Steadman acting as callers for their respective tribes. Berajilo get off to an early lead, but Honifor come from behind to claim victory and, in the process, immunity for the first time. As Honifor go wild with excitement, Judy tells Berajilo that she’ll see them later in the evening for their first visit to Tribal Council.

“That was Edwina’s fault,” Rachelle announces loudly as soon as Berajilo return to camp, despite Edwina having sat out of the challenge and Rachelle at one point walking for five minutes in the wrong direction, away from her tribe’s caller. “She wasn’t being vocal enough in her support,” Rachelle insists, shifting the blame away from herself before anyone has had a chance to blame her in the first place. Edwina stands in shock as Rachelle retires to her corner of the shelter to meditate, with the rest of the tribe standing awkwardly in between the two, unsure of quite where the feud has come from. Justin, Kenton and Hallie go to sit on the beach to have a giggle, while Kristin and Jordan try to figure out what their plan is for tonight’s vote, eventually agreeing that the options are Edwina and Rachelle. “I’d love to try and get either Kenton or Justin out,” Jordan muses, “but we need them for challenges and I’m not sure we’ve got the numbers. I just wish they weren’t so cocky all the time, you know?” Kristin nods in agreement, although in a confessional she explains that she’s going to continue trying to play both sides for as long as she can.

Ever the mediator, Steadman addresses the now-gathered tribe to ask if anyone would be willing to have a conversation with Rachelle, in order to try and pick her brains. Nobody volunteers, so he decides to brave the task alone, knowing full well what happened the last time he tried to speak to her. He spots her meditating in the corner of the shelter, with her legs crossed and her eyes closed. He notices that she has something in her lap, and cautiously moves closer. “Please accept this offering, oh mighty one,” he hears Rachelle chant, and as she continues to speak he realises that she is sitting with a bag half full of rice. Eventually, Rachelle hears Steadman’s footsteps and opens her eyes, interrupting her monologue.

“What are you doing, Rachelle?” asks Steadman, speaking as if he is getting ready to flee the site at any moment. She responds by saying that she is making an offer of rice to Kirstie Alley, the Scientologist goddess of food and the harvest, in order to stay in the game. When asked how long she has been making these sacrifices, Rachelle explains that she has made one every day since the start of the game, but figured that she would need to make a larger offering now that she finds herself in danger, hence taking a larger proportion of the rice than usual. Steadman nods as if he has any idea what she’s talking about, and turns back around to tell his tribemates all about what he just heard. Instead, he walks over to the camp fire, says “yeah, Rachelle did it” and walks away again. In a confessional, he says that he decided that it’d be too much effort to try and convince the others of his story, especially as he didn’t them to see him as “the Berajilo loony. Well, the other Berajilo loony.”

As Tribal Council looms, the discovery of Rachelle as the rice thief, as well as her role in the failure of the challenge and general odd demeanour around camp, makes the vote a lot simpler for the castaways. Edwina confesses that as long as Rachelle doesn’t “cast some kind of voodoo spell” to ensure her survival, the result should be an obvious one. Jordan shares a nod with Kristin to confirm her loyalty to him, before she turns to Justin and Kenton, who are after the same thing. As the tribe prepares to leave, Rachelle remains in the shelter, and it takes Edwina – now confident in her survival after a brief moment of panic – to convince her to come out. “Look, I know things look hopeless,” Edwina says, sitting down beside her enemy. “And I'm not going to lie, they sort of are. But I know you think that people think you’re the crazy one. And you know what? There’s nothing wrong with crazy. Everyone thought I was crazy when I kept them up at night singing rock tunes. And if they want to call me crazy, I'm fine with that. I am just a little kooky after all. Look, nobody here wants to change who you are and nobody will. As long as you’ve been true to yourself, that’s all that matters. Now let's get this silly Tribal thing over with. Come on, I’ll help you up.” Rachelle reluctantly takes Edwina’s hand and joins the rest of the tribe in going to Tribal Council, but not before secretly taking the rest of her rice stash with her. “If I’m going out,” she says confidently in a confessional, “I’m going out in a blaze of rice and glory.”

Episode 3 – "The Rice Thief of Judge Island"
Part 4

Tribal Council, Night 9
The Berajilo tribe enter the Tribal Council area for the first time, where Judy tells them to grab a torch and dip it into the flames to get fire. They then take their seats, with Rachelle awkwardly perched on the end, next to a hessian sack which she has carefully positioned on the floor. Judy asks the castaways various questions about tribe dynamics, including who appears to be on the top (Justin says that “we’re all equals here”) and who is on the bottom (Kenton, Hallie and Steadman reply “Rachelle” in unison). It soon becomes clear that the tribe are unable to lie about their plans to vote out Rachelle, prompting Judy to tell them that it's best if they “cut the bullcrap” and get straight to the vote. Rachelle is up first, and she takes her bag of rice with her to the voting booth.

---

Rachelle (voting for Edwina): “Our father, John Travolta, who art in Ocala, Florida, please let Edwina be struck by lightning at some point in the next three minutes. Amen.”

Jordan (voting for Rachelle): “Honey, J’Tia did the rice thing better.”

Edwina (voting for Rachelle): “I wish you nothing but happiness and I hope you get to eat all the rice you want when you get out of here. Godspeed, Michelle.”

---

Judy collects and tallies the votes. Before reading them, she asks if anyone wishes to play a hidden immunity idol, and if so, now would be the time to do so. Rachelle immediately stands up and reaches into her bag, causing her tribemates to hold their collective breath in fear. Instead of pulling out an idol, she pulls out a handful of rice, which she proceeds to throw in Edwina’s eyes.

“I’m not sure what that achieves, but okay,” Judy says, as Edwina scrapes grains of rice out of her eyeballs. Judy then reads the votes…

“First vote… Rachelle…”

“Second vote… Rachelle…”

“Third vote… Rachelle…”

“Fourth vote… Rachelle…”

“Third person voted out of Survivor: Judge Island… Rachelle.”

Rachelle, who was already on her feet, gladly collects her torch, knocking Edwina on the head with it on the way out. She then blows out her own torch before Judy has a chance to snuff it, and with one last cackle, leaves the Tribal Council area with rice bag in tow.

“What a pleasant woman,” Judy quips, before telling the remaining seven Berajilo members that now they’ve had a taste of Tribal Council, they’ll have a taste for only blood from now on. Well, blood and rice. She then bids the tribe goodnight as they leave the Tribal Council area, with Edwina rubbing her head as she does so.

The votes in full:

Spoiler:

Edwina – Rachelle
Hallie – Rachelle

I'm going to be really busy over the next few weeks, but I'll definitely complete this, even if I don't post anything for a week or two. After all, our Edwina deserves a finished project

Previously, on Survivor: Judge Island…

The two tribes, Honifor and Berajilo, set up camp on Judge Island. Honifor spent their first night without a shelter, and although Berajilo managed to construct theirs before nightfall, it soon collapsed, and matters weren’t much helped by Edwina’s insistence upon loudly belting 80s rock songs into the early hours. On Honifor, Takondwa almost immediately injured her ankle, while Aubin bonded with Chris, and Theresa was rushed into an alliance with Callum and Josie. Over on Berajilo, Jordan and Kristin became a pair as Rachelle isolated herself from the tribe. Honifor lost the first immunity challenge, and the tribe ultimately voted out Josie, for being a strategic threat, over for Takondwa, for only having one working ankle.

The next day, Theresa felt on the outs and decided to make amends with Chris, later sharing an idol clue with him. Callum also felt vulnerable about his position in the game and spoke to Aubin about the possibility of working together. Following Berajilo’s first reward victory, Jordan and Kristin decided to bring mutual friend Hallie into their alliance, while Rachelle further alienated her tribemates. Once again, Honifor lost immunity, and as Tribal Council loomed, Theresa explored her options by approaching Kyle. Aubin and Alicia grew wary of Theresa and Kyle, while Callum suspected Aubin of lulling him into a false sense of security. Fearing a chaotic Tribal, Chris searched for, and successfully found, the idol, and played it on Aubin to build trust between the two. However, this amounted to nothing as Callum was voted out of the game by an otherwise unanimous vote.

With no regrets about the night’s events, Chris made sure that Theresa was fine with his idol play, and the two bonded further. On Berajilo, Kristin found an idol and decided to wait to tell Hallie about her and Jordan’s alliance plans. Meanwhile, Justin and Kenton decided to try and bring Kristin and Hallie into their own alliance. Honifor were victorious in a challenge for the first time, winning fishing gear and uniting over a seafood meal. However, the tribe were not as harmonious as they appeared, as Aubin remained suspicious of Kyle. Following the disappearance of Berajilo’s rice supplies, Rachelle was quick to point fingers at Edwina. After the tribe lost the immunity challenge, it transpired that it was in fact Rachelle who had stolen the rice. This revelation made for an easy vote, and although Rachelle tried to distract the tribe by throwing rice into Edwina’s eyes at Tribal Council, she was eliminated unanimously.

Now, thirteen remain. Who will be voted out next?

Episode 4 – "Let Chaos Reign"
Part 1

Night 9
Berajilo return from their first Tribal Council, reflecting on how the experience couldn’t possibly have been any more eventful as they do so. As Steadman leads the tribe in a chorus of “Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye” to mark Rachelle’s long-awaited departure, Edwina receives a look-over from Survivor’s newest on-site medic, Dr. Phil, having just been dealt a heavy blow to the head and had rice thrown in her eyes. Although her head is a little sore and her eyes slightly red, Edwina is ruled to be fit enough to continue in the game, a decision which she may have felt more comfortable with had Dr. Phil had any professional medical training whatsoever. While the tribe attempts to return to normality, Justin says in a confessional that his work isn’t over yet. “Rachelle’s gone, the rice wars are over and our four-strong alliance has the majority over the…” (he takes several seconds searching for the most appropriate word) “…freaks, but you can’t ever get complacent in this game. Looking around, I see that everyone’s just about beginning to get comfortable again, so as far as I’m concerned, now’s the time to shake things up and take control of this whole thing. Strike while the iron’s hot and that. Let chaos reign, baby.” He grins an evil grin and tries, several times (to no avail), to wink at the camera.

The tribes, as they currently stand:

Day 10
The next morning brings a beautiful sunny day to Honifor beach, and with that brings the perfect opportunity for Kyle to catch some more fish. Using the equipment that the tribe won in the previous reward challenge, he sets about trawling the bay for that night’s dinner. Takondwa spots him in the water and offers to help, hoping to exercise her newly-healed ankle, but Kyle declines, shouting back to shore that he prefers to work alone. After several hours in the ocean, he returns to the beach with a net brimming with all different kinds of large fish. “Is that a baby shark?” Theresa gasps as she examines the contents of his net. Kyle shrugs as Theresa runs over to the shelter, yelling about his impressive catch. Later, Kyle confesses that he doesn’t consider catching a shark as much of an achievement as the rest of his tribe does; “it’s not as if I went out to sea and came back with a zebra. Hey, at this point, I’m just happy staying in the background, quietly providing wherever I can. I’ve felt a bit of heat on me recently for being perceived as the leader of this alliance I’m in, so I think it’s best to take a step back for now and let my actions do the talking.” As the tribe relaxes around the fire and Kyle prepares lunch, Chris jokes that it feels like the “calm before the storm.”

It’s the same bright morning over at Berajilo, and all the tribemates (except Edwina, who is still nursing a sore head and a nasty case of rice-eye) are up at the crack of dawn. Kenton says that now the tribe no longer has to “babysit” Rachelle, they’re free to “chill out” and have fun. As he and Justin play a very #nohomo game of footsie using a log instead of a table, Hallie, Jordan and Kristin play hopscotch in the sand. When they realise they’ve left the fire unattended for over an hour, Jordan and Kristin ask Hallie to guard their makeshift hopscotch squares while they’re away. Quickly, Hallie gets bored with standing still and begins to use her foot to create a circle in the sand. At one point, her foot catches on something underneath the sand, and she checks to make sure that the coast is clear before using her hands to dig further. She then pulls out a tube, which she unravels and reads, using her indoor voice, to the camera: “this is a clue to a hidden immunity idol” (at this point, she squeals and jumps up and down four times on the spot). The note continues, reading, “walk ten paces to the east, then look up. On paper, this idol should be an easy find.” Hallie accepts the challenge and walks what she believes is ten paces to the east, before realising that she in fact walked ten minutes to the north. Rectifying her mistake, she returns to the spot of the clue and walks ten paces to the east, but to her surprise, finds nothing in its place when she looks up. “I can’t do this!” she cries as Jordan and Kristin return from fire-tending duties, and as they do so Hallie hastily tries to cover up the hole in the sand with her foot.

The afternoon passes, Edwina wakes up and the younger tribemates tire out, having played games all day. As they all top up their tans on the beach, Steadman analyses his fellow players from afar, saying in a confessional that he senses a tribe swap on the horizon, and “this is where the game steps up about five gears.” As a result, he hopes to get to work on forming a solid majority alliance in order to secure his place in the game no matter how the tribes are redistributed. “Up to this point, it’s been the young guns versus the oldies, but if any of us want to survive moving forward then things are going to have to change around here.” Meanwhile, Kristin heads towards the well to fill up her water canteen. On her way, she passes the spot where she, Jordan and Hallie were playing hopscotch earlier in the day, and notices a piece of paper lying half-buried in the sand. She picks it up and reads it aloud, discovering that it is a clue to a hidden immunity idol. “The thing is,” she smiles in a confessional, “I know where that idol is. It’s in my shorts.” Kristin pulls out the idol that she accidentally found when it fell out of a papier-mâché tree the other day, realising that the clue leads its finder to the now-fallen “tree”, and gives it a kiss. She then assumes that it was Hallie who found the idol clue, and says that if Hallie can’t be trusted not to secretly look for an idol when left alone for five minutes, she definitely can’t be trusted in the alliance she was planning to form between her and Jordan.
