it’s a mad, mad world

Just out of interest.
I would never give our Tricia any chocolate, as that could poison her and ultimately kill her, I also wouldn’t give her anything curry-based or chilli based. What about you guys? |

I only ever gave my dog meat (not spiced processed crap or anything but proper meat like beef off a joint) and veg. Thats it,
I know someone who gives their dog a pizza every friday night. I am sure thats really bad for the dog. My mother in law feeds her cat anything she is eating. So sandwiches (not just the meat but the bread too) crisps..the lot

She had our cat for a week recently when we went to Benidorm. We told her not to do this but shes obviously been doing it as ever since, the cat has been jumping up ON THE TABLE to stare at the kids when they are eating...and also trying to nick stuff off their plates, which she has never ever done before since being a tiny kitten and trying it. She knows shes not allowed on the table.

I had my my dogs in the vets around Easter time and there was a poster about no Hot Cross Buns as they can be fatal to some dogs, we don't give our dog human food apart from chicken or something like that

Best not giving them any 'human' food our stuff isn't good for them.
My mums old dog was addicted to chocolate, used to sit up on his back legs and beg for a taz bar everytime someone came in the door, poor thing ended up with a lot of illnesses Last edited by Josy; 31-10-2017 at 01:47 PM. |

The longest living cat ever died at 38 and was on a diet of bacon and eggs mostly. The family also had the second oldest cat to ever live! I dunno what's in cat food, but I don't think it's any good.

Dogs have adapted to eat the scraps of 'human food'. Which is what mine gets if he eats all his dinner like a good boy. I cooked him a steak once too cos it was going out of date.
There's a list of things that dogs shouldn't eat like grapes/chocolate so he wouldn't get them ever.

Depends how much you spend on it tbh, there's bad and good cat food. Funnily enough my cat hates most things but he loves the really cheap s**t cat food they sell in my local shop that I have to buy in emergencies when the pet shop is out of his normal one because he hates pretty much all the other cat food they sell

All dogs were fed on scraps and leftovers years ago, before dog food was available.
Our Smudge had dried dog biscuits as her staple diet but would eat anything and everything she could beg as well. We never allowed her to have chocolate, she wouldn't touch a grape or a couple of other things but she helped herself to a full xmas dinner one year, sat at the ruddy table. She lived a grand life until she was just shy of 18 years old. |

I give Charlie nothing, but literally any time we have visitors around they always feed hi, and without even asking - my step aunt ALWAYS gives him a whole packet of Pom bears to himself, and other family give him bits of their dinner, especially at parties, and that's always the most annoying because they don't even ask they just assume it's okay.

I must be tired because for a second I genuinely thought you were asking if any of us feed our dogs human meat

We give her meat we eat but pretty strict about other foods. I go mad if anyone gives her chocolate.
My dog is weird though she will leave yer own food and even a treat but she tries to eat spiders, flies and slugs

bacon is full of salt, but its still meat. Eggs are recommended, especially following operations. Our cat was neutered a couple of weeks back and we were told that following the op she should eat scrambled eggs. and that she may not feel like eating anything but scrambled eggs for a few days. When I asked 'wtf? scrambled eggs for a cat'?!' I was told that its actually really good for them. Which sounded odd to me, surely cats should only eat meat (and maybe veg). Same vet actually told me off for giving her milk as a treat, as apparently it knacks their tummies So not sure if vet was just being weird or what but I listened to her. Cat did go back onto normal catfood day after operation though. Shes fully recovered now, if anyones wondering Went a bit off on one there. But I thought cats only lived til like 10. Not ****ing 40 :S I know 38 was the oldest living cat, not normal age. But...if a cats usual life is 15...then one being 38..well. Its like over twice the usual expectancy. Apparently the average age of a human is 79. So that cat is the equivalent of a human reaching 200!

The vet told my mum not to let our old cat have milk too, apparently cats have a very low lactose tollerance

I give my dog meat, biscuits (like Digestives), I’ll give her the odd crisp if she’s begging and she also eats my toast crusts because I don’t eat the crusts. Oh and cheese

I thought it was fairly common knowledge now that you're not supposed to give cats milk?
