Three chairs were normal sized and then his was a large stool so that he towered over me. I honestly nearly laughed in his face and was secretly hoping they did sack me because I hated the job so much.
you need to use that in a scene in your next book

a lighter one minute and a Radio Times, Twix and 10 Lambert and Butler the next.

You learnt the hard way that crime does not pay. He did you a favour, there will be plenty time to write a new book with 15 years of porridge staring you in the face

Not FIRED exactly. A woman I used to work for gave rolling monthly contracts, which she'd renew as long as a)we were needed and b)she didn't want rid lol. She stopped offering me new contracts when my role became unnecessary.

The estate agents I worked for tried to sack me when I put a letter on my director's desk suggesting he was being corrupt with his clients and to not involve me as this was in breach of my contract. He immediately removed my keys, the company mobile and sent me home.

My previous job and the one I went back to was with a chamber of barristers in London. They told me exactly what to do and how to handle things. A meeting was arranged (for my constructive dismissal ) My director had his solicitor friend with him and I turned up with my barrister. His solicitor almost immediately backed down and everything went in my favour.
