Default Dustin Hoffman accused of sexual harassment

Heard this on the news earlier, Dustin Hoffman has been accused of sexual harassment against a woman on set in 1985, and just hearing now a second woman has came forward with more accusations

Looks like he's admitted it too before the girl is labelled a liar/gold digger etc

Hoffman has apologised for his behaviour towards Ms Hunter.

He said: “I have the utmost respect for women and feel terrible that anything I might have done could have put her in an uncomfortable situation. I am sorry. It is not reflective of who I am.”

Yep that was on the news, I think that's the first woman and now there's a second.

Yeah Weinberg was clearly just the tip of the iceberg. There is no reason to think that there is less sexual harrassment in hollywood than there is in normal life (infact theres likely to be even more, given the nature of their 'world'). And the amount in real life is shocking, so many many more stories are due to come out yet.

Has anyone noticed that the alleged Hollywood serial molesters are mostly self professed leftists & male feminists?

No wonder lefties and feminists seem to hate all men, when these are the people they surround themselves with.

As in, y'know, they can choose not to get sexually assaulted if that's not their cup of tea

Hollywood (and the music biz) must be quite a sleazy industry. Lots of people trying to be famous with minimal opportunities, results in producers having a lot of power over individuals.

When I heard about the Dustin Hoffman allegations I remembered this interview with Simon Mayo on Radio 5 Live from a few years ago:

Question from listener.

Mayo: It comes from a women... ...who says 'In 1978 when you were filming Agatha in my home town of Harrogate you insisted on a kiss in exchange for an autograph, which I thought was a fair price. Sadly I lost my autograph book during an over-enthusiastic clear-out years later. Now that I'm 50 will the same bargain hold?'

Hoffman: Yes, but thank God you didn't lose your virginity [laughs].

Jeremy Piven gives off the vibe of a very strong minded person. I really don't think he's an abuser, even though at times I find him quite intimidating. But he's charming also.

This Hollywood scandal story would look like very convenient timing to come out if there was something to hide in the largest mass shooting on American soil, the Las Vegas massacre.

That story didn't run for long in the MSM, not when you compare it to the Trump/Russia nothing burger, which has been continually running for about a year (basically since Hillary lost).

Anybody been following the Vegas story and conspiracy's? I know that at least 3 witnessess have since died.

I think Simon Cowell must be sh1tting himself as I recall he was on GMTV and he admitted that he had got up at the "crack of Dawn"

I expect that she will now come forward

I've not heard any of the conspiracies, link some/sum them up? All I've heard is that his girlfriend is apparently hiding something, but that's an easy yarn to spin really.

I think across the board, movies, music,TV there are and always have been predatory individuals demanding unsavoury things from those working on or up and coming in the industries.

Sad but true and good things are coming to light.
As long as what is coming forward are genuine incidents.

I thought that too. 'might' and 'could' Either deny it or give a proper apology. Like with Kevin Spacey's 'apology' it just comes across like they don't want to deny it because they know there's probably others that could come forward, but they also want to look as good/innocent as they possibly can at the same time. They're not interested in giving an apology because they actually care about the people they've hurt, it's all about image.

I find this very disappointing from someone I had thought was a nice man. Wasn't it Hoffman who helped Elaine Paige get her big break? One wonders about that rags to riches story now and if there was more to it.

As a woman I can honestly say I don't feel I've ever been in a situation where I felt I couldn't handle an approach from a man or that it was grossly inappropriate. I did have someone try to spike my drink once because I don't drink and I told him he wasted his money because I tasted it immediately and never accepted a drink from him again. And that was that. Should that guy be arrested or fired for it, of course not, I dealt with it. Only once when I was a teenager did I find myself in a situation that did frighten me and it wasn't sexual. On that occasion I worked on an office run by two men and when I arrived one of them asked me to make him a coffee which I did. Now this guy had a secretary who was besotted with him and they were supposedly having a fling, both married to others. I was in the kitchen when she came in and said something about making his morning coffee. So I said oh it's ok I made him one already. She leaves. Next thing the other boss comes in to the room where I'm now alone and closes the door then leans against it. He informs me she complained I was rude to her (I only said the other man had had his coffee) and to apologise. I said I didn't have anything to apologise for feeling quite shocked by the accusation. Then he says apologise or get out. I said I'd get out then and tried to open the door which he held closed with his body. I don't like being shut it and I started to panic. The rest was a bit of a blur but involved me trying to force the door open and his body weight holding it and then me becoming hysterical and screaming and crying and finding super strength to push him over. I ran through the office screaming and crying, told everyone what had happened, left and never came back. I didn't report it to the police as I was very young and didn't think it was a crime they would charge him with, he didn't touch me and it was me who pushed him off balance to get out. Had he touched me I am pretty sure I would have reported it and it surprises me, with my own hysterics in that situation why people are silent about these situations when they happen but looking back now I wonder should I have reported what happened and why I didn't. Then again he frightened me but didn't actually touch me so I don't know.

Even if you dealt with it, I think arresting him would have been fine too tbh. You are so lucky you noticed.

I was lucky in that the last time I was spiked, Gavin was with me. First time my friends took care of me as they knew I could drink a LOT so being in that state after a couple was unusual

**** knows what would have happened otherwise :S

Low level sexual assaults happen so often you don't even realise its happened, or think its a 'problem' as such. Stuff like pervs shoving erections into your back while standing behind you on trains/buses. Or people 'accidentally' touching you up in public...pubs being especially rife for this. Men and women are victims of it so often, and don't even realise that they have been sexually assaulted as...its just so 'normal' and accepted.

Not sure if behaviour and entitlement is actually getting worse, or if people just talk about it more these days.

There will be so many more of these stories to come. The floodgates have well and truly opened. And about time too.

I think Jaxie meant he spiked her drink with alcohol rather than drugs Vicky (not that that's ok either but there's a massive difference I think) Is that what you meant jaxie?

Ahh right yeah I see. Misread that completely

Though arguably, purposely trying to get someone drunk to take advantage should also be punished. Even if the person did notice before it was too late.

Yes sorry I meant with alcohol. I'm the orange juice girl and can taste the vodka, even though they say you can't taste it in orange. Though yeah trying to get someone who doesn't drink drunk is shady. But the fact that I don't drink is often met with disbelief and misunderstanding in social situations.
