That doesn't explain the hypocrisy of only opposing PC when it suits her. She's all for racist comedians and spreading venom about but she gets precious over a comedian's routine? A performance is a performance, she can't champion Chubby Brown and then get all 'Helen Lovejoy' over another.

A person can't act offended and then in another thread choose to dish out vile comments about grieving widows or have a suspicious trend of hating most women of colour that appear in Reality TV shows.

Frankie Boyle targeted a specific child that's the difference for me, I have seen no suspicious trend of hating women of colour, and why only women hating? is that a particular ism?

I don't think I have ever seen Chubby Brown so can't comment

Best comedian IMO,is Sir Billy, been crying laughing at him,Kathy Burke makes me laugh too but I like Peter Kay too, surely it's all a matter of opinion,we like who we like it's the same with musicians ,people trying to diss everyone but their faves,it's a big old world room for us all,as for Chubby Brown ,Lee Evans , NOT my cup of tea but wouldn't have a go because someone else likes them,it's all so pointless.

i find very few comedians consistently funny. They are all capable of telling a good joke and that's the way i prefer it. I appreciate a good joke whoever tells it.

heck, on BB i have found that i'm lucky if I like one or 2 of them out of the entire lot, thats the way its always been, and it has nothing to do with gender or anything else. It's that the majority of BB contestants are fame hungry wannabees that are unpleasant to say the least. Its just ridiculous to compare anything on BB with real life.

No, that's not a difference at all. In fact I'd say that's akin to victim blaming. 'Well they volunteered to be on TV so I get to call them a wh*re, say they're ugly, that they are bad parents, that they don't care about being recently bereaved'. Someone being on television does not grant you a carte blanche mandate to be as nasty and misogynistic as you possibly can. They are just people on a screen, it's perfectly possible to dislike somebody on reality TV or in the public eye without sinking to such levels, all that's required is a good moral compass.

The difference here is that Chuff's comments are deliberately and intentionally malicious - she is not joking. Frankie Boyle is a comedian, doing comedy up on a comedy stage. Jokes are not serious remarks that are intentionally malicious, and his particular brand of comedy works on the shock factor of the joke, not what he's said per se. To be outraged over a joke about a disabled person but have no issues making disparaging sexist/racist comments oneself is complete double standards, and shows that one's priorities are totally misplaced. Also, to decry that racially insensitive costumes are 'just a bit of fun!!!!' and any criticism is 'PC gone mad' but to then have an issue with a comedian's jokes which is precisely the same thing, is all kinds of absurd.

yet you are happy for Frankie to do this on TV where it will highly likely the family of the child in question will see it, but get outraged by Chuff making (a lot of the time) tongue in cheek comments on a BB forum that are highly unlikely to be seen by any of the people involved, bizarre.

I mean the umpteen threads we've had recently about such and such costumes being racially insensitive or offensive. I didn't involve myself in them but I actually happen to agree that costumes are pretty much fair game in much the same way that comedy is, that's not to say that some of them aren't littered with casual racism because they are, but a joke is a joke so I can let it slide. What makes no sense is thinking that dressing up is 'a bit or fun' and that casual racism is fine, but a comedian telling jokes about the poor vulnerable disabled? Vile! Give me a break, they're one and the same. Either you oppose discrimination and isms of all forms or you think there are no boundaries in comedy, pick a side and stick to it - anything else is pure hypocrisy.

Allowing racism/homophobia/transphobia to slide and brushing it off as 'PC gone mad' but making out the disabled must be protected at all costs is all kinds of patronising. There are many disabled people, Stephen Hawking included, who have no problem being used as the butt of dark humoured jokes.

How many times do I need to repeat this? Frankie Boyle is a comedian. He tells jokes. Jokes are not serious comments. Jokes are not intentionally malicious. The humour is in the shock factor of the joke, not the target itself. Chuff makes serious and intentionally malicious comments about contestants on reality shows. Chuff is not joking the large majority of the time. There's a difference, Cherie, I shouldn't have to keep explaining it.

Calling women wh*res and mocking the bereaved, and thinking a bit of casual racism in a costume is all fine and dandy cause 'it's a laugh' and 'it's PC gone mad' but then having a problem with a comedian making jokes about the disabled is both riddled with hypocrisy and also pretty patronising too.

We've done this before Kazanne. I tend not to read the X Factor discussion threads, just post a few thoughts of my own and vacate. As I've said previously, if you have examples of these comments, please post them and I'll happily criticise them - I am not inconsistent unlike a large number of people on this forum. Also, who are these so-called 'buds'? I didn't even know I had any, I'm hardly that ingrained a member on here anymore
