On the women´s side that´s true, there are only 2 candidates for either a World Championship or Olympic Gold, Canada and USA. Finns and the others battle for bronze. On the Mens side, well if they had all of their best NHL players, yes. Otherwise, not necessarily.

Two surprises on mens hockey:

First Slovenia beat the USA 3-2 after OT and then Slovakia upset the biggest favorite to win this, OAR 3-2 in regular time.

Anyone can win this.
