Default Question for "straight men and women" about the "gays"

John Barnes told us that straight men (and i guess women) are naturally fearful of the gays as straights think that all gays thirst after them and want to jump them soon as look at them (he did indicate this may or may not be 100% true)

SO, do you worry when you meet a gay person that all they can think about is having sex with you?

Or is he a little off the mark here?

No. Nobody of any sexuality is sexually attracted to every person they meet of the correct sex.

Do you want every woman you meet?

Well I think I speak for all straight men when I say you certainly think within the first 0.005 seconds "would I bang that?"

Well i think,If you’re a good looking dude it’s probably always in the back of your mind. It’s whether or not it bothers you that’s the decider on whether you’d feel threatened by it.

If a gay man finds me attractive then I think it's a compliment.
I have had guys follow me around the shops.

If you flatter yourself enough to think anyone and everyone from the opposite sex wants to jump your bones then maybe you think the same of someone who is gay.
On a personal level, I slept ( and I do mean slept) with a gay friend many moons ago and the thought crossed my mind that she better not start getting too friendly, just the same as if and when I have shared the bed with male friends that I wasn’t interested in in a sexual way.

..his views don’t really factor personal attraction which regardless of sexuality or gender, that would be the thing that would attract, so yeah he’s completely of the mark as it were...I can only speak for myself, but I might only feel uncomfortable if I felt an ‘attraction’ was being felt by someone who it felt was actively pursuing to progress further than just an appreciation, type thing and then that would be something to be addressed...I think his reasoning is more the Harry met Sally type thing in thinking close friendships can’t be possible without one person feeling a physical attraction to the other, which I don’t believe at all...

i would say its only straight guys that are unsure of their own sexuality that think this way.

Maybe so; I remember two of my friends (one of whom is gay) sharing a bed in a hotel room once (there was only a double and a couch, which I had already crashed out on) and the straight friend was doing the whole "You better not try to bum me!" thing. To which the response was "Err no offense but YUCK!" . But this straight friend has also "flirted" with the idea of bisexuality in the past, though he's never so much as kissed another male and is now married with kids, so he seems to have chosen a lane. Haha. But yeah, definitely not exactly 100% sure of his own sexuality back then. He was also the only one of our friendship group who got a bit "weird about it" when the other friend told us he's gay (we were about 17 at the time). I'd guess he probably is what they used to call "bicurious". There's probably some newfangled term for it though...

But yeah, on the general thread topic, the idea that gay people are automatically attracted to ALL people of the same sex is totally ridiculous. I have to wonder if the guys who assume gay men want to jump their bones also assume that every woman they pass is lusting after them?

I mean... I assume that every woman I pass is lusting after me and I STILL don't think my gay friends want to sexually assault me .
