If you think it is still all a rosy experience for all,you are sadly mistaken.

As I said easy to scoff, and dismiss too it seems from your reaction.

Quite sure Amanda would not give a crap about being a 'LGBT champion'

I quite agree. I think she is one of those for quiet life no matter what.

Far better than throwing her toys out of the pram for any perceived slight

The lady is quite right.

Amanda has lead anything but a quiet life

I think she would not want a label like this as labels are mostly bollocks tbh

I don't really find this tweet too shocking. Brother in sticking up for sister shocker? Really?

I find the language quite odd if I am honest. 'I identify as a lesbian' rather than just..'I am a lesbian'. What is it with youngsters today and 'identifying as' rather than...being.

Because it means they can change their minds easier at a later date? That would be my thoughts. Or maybe that's the less "shocking" notification for relatives?

Amanda has worked with the best drag queens over the years, I never liked Danny La Rue but he would make mincemeat of Courtney.

It is like Harrods being challenged by Poundland.

It's so true Jamie.

I know a guy,his Brother won't visit the house of their parents because the Brother who lives there is gay.

I know another who moved out because of rows with his Sister after stating he was gay.

Plus another from an Asian family who has in effect been disowned because he is gay.

Think also about footballers and sports stars really scared to even hint they are gay, for fear of the reaction to same.

Some people who'd deny that could happen today, like to cocoon themselves away from reality as to how difficult it can be for some, to even just approach thinking of daring to say they are gay or lesbian.

They could change their minds at a later date anyway though surely.

I am a lesbian. Oh, I have discovered there actually are men I fancy. So I am and always was really bi. Or so on.

Identifying as seems so...wooly

That's awful, one of my friends comes from quite a strict muslim family and he's actually considered allowing his parents to find him a wife just to not have to come out to them (even though he currently lives with his boyfriend ) And another friend of mine's parents kicked him out onto the streets when he came out at 16. I know those are quite extreme cases but yeah it happens, not everyone accepts it. Your example of footballers speaks volumes about society sometimes not being as accepting as people like to think.

I have to say that I could identify all the gay children at school with me easily as a naive kid, so it would be a big surprise if parents and siblings were not aware. So i don't see how coming out would be a big shocker for anyone close

This thread is supporting LGBT?????

By putting Amanda down? Give me a break. All talk of families turning on their siblings but you've no problem turning on Amanda because she's not the "right" type of gay?

Atrocious carry on, should be ashamed.

Always seems to be the same 5 or 6 people who get completely agitated at the mere mention of lgbt. Perhaps a show that is largely to do with social interaction isnt for you.

That's the other side too hijaxers.

I also have come across people who never ever dared say,all their life, they've pretended not to be out of fear, founded or unfounded.
Often too denying themselves any real happiness in their life or relationships.

A little compassion and sensitivity from others rather than scoffing, ridicule and denial that people still struggle to be able to be themselves, would be nice to see and hear.
Sadly some would rather scoff, ridicule and/or deny such is the case.

Thanks for contributing your post to this hijaxers.
