Like this, if I didn't know who it was, I would never have said Margot. So airbrushed they totally changed her features, reshaped her nose, tried making her eyes more "sunken" etc:
VS. what she actually looks like in the movie: Insane. She looks really like Sharon in the second photo though, scarily similar. Last edited by LaLaLand; 19-07-2019 at 10:39 PM. |

A visual effects sequence? Interesting. Will have to remember to stay seated when it ends! Ha.
Think I already posted but QT has added in like a minute more Sharon dialogue (probably from that reporter at cannes moaning that Margot didn’t speak much) and a scene showing Rick in “The Great Escape” of all things! |

I adore Tarantino's work, but I honestly couldn't care less about this film

Really that’s a shame. This seems to be his most critically acclaimed for a long time so it’s very exciting for me as a big fan anyway. People are raving about t, it’s like Tarantino to the max, Pulp Fiction on acid!

Well, that definitely excites me a bit more. The concept itself doesn't really grab me, and it's a shame the cast (though, some of the usual suspects appear) has taken a Hollywood (lol) turn.

BUT there's so much more than that. From reading reviews there's so much going on it's like this big saga across classic Hollywood, basically Pulp Fiction 1969 with interlinking/connecting characters living separate lives. Instead of Jules/Vince, Marcellus/Butch and Mia we have Rick/Cliff, Sharon/Manson Family and Bruce bloody Lee to name a few! Funny, sad, tense, genuinely unsettling at times and of course, action packed. Beautifully shot too from what I can gather (thanks to cinematographer Robert Richardson, he also shot Hateful Eight, Django, Kill Bill and Inglorious with QT). No different to the likes of Hateful Eight and Inglorious Basterds in terms of an all star cast tbh.

Fair enough but I don't see why. Most of his movies have always had "star" quality. Even in cases like John Travolta and putting him in an unexpected type of role.
Leo and Brad especially are not new to Tarantino's movies. Last edited by Marsh.; 20-07-2019 at 09:54 PM. |

Tbh I think the reason he's gone with these three big names as leads is really because it's a HOLLYWOOD MOVIE. If we had three leads who perhaps weren't "at the top" we wouldn't be as invested as them supposedly being "big stars" in the movie, yano? Idk, that's my theory.
It's a movie celebrating Old Hollywood, so why wouldn't he use "the cream of the crop" of today's Hollywood to do this kind of thing. Apart from those three, the "main characters" otherwise are relatively up and coming (Margaret Qualley, Dakota Fanning, Mike Moh, Damon Herriman etc). Perhaps, I'm bitter because Tim Roth was left on the cutting room floor.

The original "cut" of this movie, pre-necessary editing was like 4 hours (including all cast and every single scene) and Quentin said he'd be interested in releasing a super cut, imagine!? |

She's fiiiiiiiiiiiiit but are you getting the Jackie Brown throwback here? The very same coloured wall from Jackie Brown at the airport from the iconic opening scene (which itself is a nod to The Graduate)... Little things.

Also, first shot of Rumer Willis as actress Joanna Pettet, close friend of Tate who had lunch with her the day of the murder:

There was an advanced public screening last night at the classic Cinerama Dome in LA (and I think there’s another tonight not sure) and, as expected by now, movie-goer reviews/Tweets have been very positive. It just sounds absolutely wild.
Will embed some Tweets later when I’m not on my phone! Last edited by LaLaLand; 21-07-2019 at 07:58 PM. |

Is this film about the decline of Golden age of Hollywood? That's what I heard somewhere. I haven't read any of this thread and I'm to hot and bothered to start now.

So Leo's character was once a big TV star in the early 60's, the leading man/action hero of a Western show and Brad is his best mate and long-time stunt double (as they had back in the day, like Burt Reynolds/Hal Needham). This movie is set in 1969, so by this time Leo's becoming a has-been (and a raging alcoholic) as audiences no longer want the classic, well-groomed action hero anymore, they want a new kind of entertainment/"leading man", more gritty and real to relate to the counterculture movement ("New Hollywood"). Speaking of the counterculture movement, Leo lives next door to Sharon Tate/Roman Polanski on Cielo Drive. Tate of course was and up-and--coming actress who was brutally murdered by The Manson Family, who are in themselves like a secondary plot, like a sinister backdrop to this movie that keeps bubbling under until the big finale. It's basically Pulp Fiction 1969, "a day (or three) in the life" of these three characters whose stories at points cross and interconnect featuring classic Hollywood and Los Angeles in all it's glory with appearances from the likes of Bruce Lee, Steve McQueen and other Hollywood "icons", both on and off-screen as they try and figure out a way to stay relevant for this fast-approaching "new era" of their industry. So a guy over on a movie forum who was at the screening last night has basically said that the "spoiled ending" up on Wikipedia is a complete farce so.

So apparently, QT has been in talks with Uma Thurman about a possible Kill Bill 3.
How that would quite work idk seeing as all the targets are dead but |
