Default I used to be a hefty 18 and a half stones.

Ive lost 5 stone in 5 years.....

No secret diet, just hard work and less food.

My weight never bothered me before but 5 years ago i lost my 16 yr old son to legal highs.

Well he was a skinny soul, unlike his dad, but i was determined to fit into the top he had on that night so decided then.

So another thing, i lose it on here a lot and im sorry for that, but i do struggle with emotions most of the time so im hoping some of you can understand where i come from sometimes....

So sorry about your son Parmnion but really well done to you for being able to do what you did and get on with things. I can't even imagine how horrific it must be to even get yourself up in the morning let alone motivate yourself to live better and lose all that weight. Good for you

I was thinking this morning how people continue after losing a child, my best mates sister was killed at 25 in a car crash that also killed the 17 year olds who fault it was, it destroyed my mates mum and dad they are just empty shells of the people they used to be.

Sorry about your son, that's very sad. I am sure he would look down on you with a smile after losing so much weight and getting his top on!

Sorry to hear that... I can't begin to imagine. But it's wonderful that you were able to make a positive change from something so heartbreaking. Well done, Parmnion. xx

Wow Parmy that's awful sad losing your son so young , you must have found that very hard. So setting yourself a challenge and achieving it is fantastic and well done .

I am glad you were able to find the motivation Parmion in such tragic circumstances, it shows your great determination to honour your son's life. I know that the YMCA work with youths trying to battle legal highs, as well as offering other services. They might be able to get you into contact with their partners who specifically campaign against them too.

Just read this, Parmi, ano wanted to say how sorry I am to hear about your son. A long time ago I read some words in a sympathy card which said 'to live life a little better for having known them brings purpose to their life and meaning to their death'. It seems you are living life a little better for having known your son and I admire your success, which I know can't have come easy.

Be kind to younself, parmi - we all get niggly and don't always react in the most appropriate way when times are tough, so forgive yourself.

I want you to know that I really respect your honesty,, your openness and the courage you have shown in sharing your story and your thoughts as that can't have been easy. I respect too your willingness to look inward and to put things right. Not everyone can do that.

You've certainly made me think about how I go about my life now the following days, and the decisions I needEd the inspiration to make. Thank you for that.

Garfie, that post is so inspiring, you are obviously a warm and kind person, that shines through,I hope Parmy takes it all on board and imo,it's better to have had a loved one than not had them in your life at all ,those memories help him live on.Well done on the weight loss too.

The heaviest I have been is 22 stone.

Seriously this was when I was about 20 years old. I'm now 13 stone for 5 feet 9.
