Default ITV2 chief Paul Mortimer deal's BB a back handed slap regarding Love Islands success

*See attachment for what he said*

I mean how can he explain Love Island beating BB in ratings over the Friday eviction and scheduling? Is he living in the 90's? People don't stay in to watch a live eviction which is apparent these day's seeing as its one of the lowest rated episodes (in live terms) each week they record it and have some very impressive figures when it comes to catch up.

Also Love Island evictions also take place on a Friday so I can't see where this man is coming from? Im enjoying Love Island at the mo but lets be fair they ripped off Big Brother's format and slightly tweeked it into a dating game show to rival BB....No need to be throwing shade.

Talk about biting the hand that feeds you.

I hate when big brother intervenes too much... In lovelisland candidates come and go acording to how they they start to come across and how the relationships turn... These things are things you can't predict untill they happen... With big brother its about people and if big brother just got rid of the housemates whenever he feels like it, he would just be asuced of manipulating the show... Rather than letting the people just be themself til the next Friday eviction..

itv2 would make Big Brother great again. Channel 5 are useless with it. These days i only enjoy CBB.

Its more Endemol-Shine
the makers of all Big Brother
doing mega cut backs.

Ch5-Viacom
need to get rid of Ryland
but I think he would take a pay cut
to stay on.

Love Island is far cheaper to make
to be fair

And not enough Live - all slick edits

To be honest I think all this hype for LI will die down in the next two series. People will get tired of the format...

The format changes up week to week - that's not the thing that'll get tired. I doubt it'll hit 10 years but I think that's because there'll be another summer fad that's people are more interested for.

This is total crap Love Island literally intervenes and makes everyone couple up with a new man or woman every week....Its the whole premise of the show.

Another thing they stole from Big Brother by interfering unfortunately BB has a different audience and we don't want that overly edited, manipulated game play...Just real people.

The only similarity is that they live in some sort of house.

- BB Housemates are confined to the house, Love Islanders leave the villa regularly
- BB focuses on a public vote popularity contest, LI has a mixture of both and rewards couples
- BB features 'regular people' whereas LI features good looking singles
- You have to be in a Couple to survive LI, you don't in BB

Unless LI Has some sort of CBB5 Type incident, I don't think it would die down at all. it seems to be increasing ratings per series and i don't think people would get tired of the format at all.

Love Islanders don't leave the house and if they did that would be on parr with channel 5's ridiculous amount of times they have let housemates leave so similarity 1.

BB focuses on a public vote but also have had housemates vote another housemate out so again the same format.

BB no longer focuses on regular people neither does Love Island with both having people with famous dads or ex reality tv stars or someone whos appeared in a music video.

The whole couple thing was also introduced by BB where twins or couples could choose to stay as 1 housemate or be individual.

Do you even watch Love Island?? They leave the villa pretty much every episode. They leave to go on dates, they've even had them leave to go food shopping before.

No they don't they just go to a different part of the compound.

BB has done the whole embarresing food shopping thing with Jedward doing supermarket sweep....What a terrible tv moment they've also let housemates leave which pisses all over the format....Islanders have travelled to the supermarket together to but its a different show.

The difference is BB has a fundamental rule of no outside contact which recently they have broken but Love Island also has the same rule as no contestants unless there's an emergency are allowed contact with their friends or family.

Anyone who cannot see the similarity between the 2 shows is an imbecile.

The show was started as Celebrity Love Island back in 2005 to rival Big Brother....Say's it all.

Love Island targetted a very specific demographic and succeeded. Big Brother had a demographic that were reality TV show fans and people watchers. They lost this demographic because it stopped being reality and stopped being about real people, and instead, they just tried to steal Love Islands demographic and failed.

Love Island does intervene but I mean they could not of known that Adam would choose kendle out of all the girls... And they could not of praditcied that even though it was clear that Adam later prefered the new girl, they did not predict that kendle would still want adam even after he told her that he does not like her becuase she does not 'put out' that much.. (I would hate a guy that tells me this as I would see it as manipulation) . After the auduadince saw this desastrer relationship it was clear that one of those two girls had to go that night... Hence one did becuase theres no set eviction day.

Another example is that 'dreamy boy' youll had an argument with hayley.. It lead to her sleeping on the sofa so they needed to add a new person in the next day as it was clear that that relationship has ended... With big brother if one person has an argument with another.. Bringing in a new house mate the next day makes no senses as the show is about seeing how the failed relation continues but with love Island if a couple argue the game is to get them in a new couple... One that works..

I love Love Island but like, in a couple of years it’s demographic will grow out of it and stop watching.
