Are you not familiar with the sectarianism between Rangers and Celtic that mirrors the troubles in Northern Ireland?

Sectarianism is religious hate, just based on a persons religion and nothing else. One of the tweets she posted was .... who is going to be sectarian today ... with a picture of a man clapping

You think she should be ejected and sacked for that?

If she loses her job ,again it's her own stupid fault .

They always advise people who want a job not to post offensive stuff as employers can view them , even if she wasn't in big brother this could of still come back to bite her on her bum .

Facebook is another one people should be wary of ,your boss and colleagues can see everything .

This, totally for me.
Really unfortunate for Ellis.

Whole lives ruined just for saying/thinking the wrong thing.

Slippery slope?...

Today, this punishment is for people who make rude comments about women/blacks/muslims/jews/LGBT people.

It's done under the guise of 'protecting minorities'. That's how it starts.

Tomorrow that punishment will get extended to include negative comments about everyone else (In the name of equal treatment, it's only fair, right?)

SO NEXT: people will get punished for making rude comments about men/whites/christians/straight people.
THEN it will be punishment for people being rude about governments, politicians, corporations etc etc
SOON you won't be able to say anything negative without getting punished under 'hate laws'.

"Yeah but we need these laws to protect minorities from offensive comments!"

Do you really think the people who enforce these laws, the same people who have been literally bombing the middle east for years - you think they actually care about minorities?

Or do you think perhaps they are using minorities as an excuse (like some kind of human shield) in order to bring in new laws that will eventually be used to control everybody?

And that argument can be shut down by calling you a conspiracy theorist. And we can all go back to sleep.

Exactly.
Someone challenging the mainstream? Quick! Stick a label on them (conspiracy theorist, extremist, etc etc), put them into a pigeon hole so you won't have to listen... and back to sleep you go....

Sleepwalking off that cliff........

I think what the take-backs from the Ellis situation is that .... you need to be responsible for what you post online.

Many people think that, just because you are behind a keyboard, staring at a computer screen, that you are anonymous
and can say whatever you want without repercussion. This is not so. People need to learn that there are consequences to
their actions and it might not be pretty.

So everyone, be wary of what you post online, whether it is on twitter, facebook or online forum.
Think twice before pressing that 'submit' button. Enjoy your online experience, but be wary that 'Big Brother' is watching you !! (ironic)

You don't want to lose your job because your employer found bad comments you made online. (even if it is a Mac job)

Let's be honest.....

If a black contestant had tweets that were slating all white people, absolutely nothing would happen.

Exactly my point.

I bet there has never been a single case of a black person fired or ejected from a reality show because of a disparaging comment they made about white people.

There's doing the right thing, and being seen to be doing the right thing - often two different things.

A good example was Tila Tequila - they only needed to look at her Wikipedia page to know about her controversies, but still put her in the house. They removed her when she became a problem for their public image.

It's sad how time has changed, Ahmed in BB5 was an open homophobe yet was allowed to stay

Exactly what I was thinking

Who has the time to scroll through probably hundreds of Tweets.

I'm now just imagining him in the house today, getting removed for posting "gays are icky 😤" on his Snapchat in 2015

You hear disparaging comments about white people all the time in the media, sometimes even on this forum.

But it's treated totally differently if the same type of comments were made about any other race.

From a mixed race perspective, i find it SO unequal, so hypocritical - it is insane.
