The maker of Channel 5’s Big Brother says he would consider any tactic to boost the show’s viewing figures again, even moving it to another country.

While Big Brother famously kicked off the reality TV trend, it’s no secret that the show has fallen behind rival shows like I’m A Celebrity, Towie and – most recently – Love Island. But Peter Salmon, chief creative officer at Endemol – the makers of Big Brother – told the Daily Star he is willing to go to great lengths to raise the show’s ranking.

e said: ‘If Big Brother is not on top form, we have to keep changing it. You have got to get at it creatively to think what its next manifestation will be.’ Commenting on the reality show of the moment, Peter said: ‘I think Love Island has been sensational.’ He agreed he would even go so far as to relocate Big Brother to somewhere like Majorca, where Love Island is filmed, adding: ‘Listen, we should not rule anything out.’

Honestly at this point there really isn't much that can be done to repair the damage from years of neglect this show has had... You can't make a handful of changes and expect a surge in ratings overnight... A change in location may create some hype just like the recent addition to the Elstree house did but it most certainly won't keep viewers interest very long... It will take several years of a commitment to continuous improvements before they actually start seeing some results... BB gained popularity because it was different and it stood out from other programs of the time... BB needs to worry less about what other programs are doing and more on what makes BB special...
