Yes exactly, what even is it? The universe or a higher power directing us to follow certain paths? If that's the case what's the point in making choices at all if it's mapped out already?

Fate implies that you're following a predestined path though or outcome, not being in control of certain things in life doesn't equal a predestined path it just means that you weren't in control of a particular event at a particular time.

And also, what would be the point in having a predestained path anyway, like who or what is in control of it and if someone or something is in control of peoples paths why do some people end up with horrific lives or causing horrific pain on others (serial killers etc) Is whoever arranging these paths some sort of sadist?

That makes absolutely no sense in regards to this discussion, unless you believe in time travel obviously only one course of events will take place, that doesn't prove that it was always the way everything was only going to happen or do you actually believe life is one big play and free will doesn't exist at all? That's really depressing

me too, people say "there's no such thing as coincidence" of course there is, why wouldn't there be? The likelihood of sometimes a coincidence happening is very probable statistically speaking
