Sure. But they do have an obligation to let viewers know something about all the housemates whilst still making an entertaining show. There were people on this board saying "She has never spoken about her son".

This is a general problem that has developed over the years on BB. Obviously the lack of live coverage doesn't help, but far too much emphasis is put on stupid tasks and idiotic twists than actually allowing people to get to know the people in there.

I don't think Big Brother thinks it has an obligation to housemates. The only obligation is to get higher ratings.


Thus, show like Big Brother and I'm a Celebrity ending up focusing too much on a small number of contestants.


Also the Edit can influence the general public a lot. Big Brother could have easily edited the show so that Lewis F is hardly shown and viewers would say that Lewis F is a boring housemate that does nothing. This isn't the case, it is all down to the edit

I agree. But you get better ratings (and higher voting figures) by actually allowing people to get to know and care about the housemates. They had a problem this week because they showed so little of some of those who were left nobody really cared about them.

They can edit people anyway they like, all good, all bad.
We always find out later that we don’t get shown loads of good stuff.

that's the real reason they got rid of live feed, so they could manipulate it more.

Actually, it often used to. Particularly parents talking about their children, or about missing their children. This show is about the housemates. Their stories, their characters. That was how you came to care for the housemates. Unfortunately, it became more about twists and more twists.

I think I remember them airing her talking about her son a couple of times before.

They've aired Zoe's conversations about her son more.

The chat she had tonight about benefits - I got deja vu from that. I'm sure there was an exact same one a few weeks ago.

Tonight was the first time (I think) we heard that Cameron was a Chelsea fan, hah.

The way the show is edited now, doesn't seem to bring those things to the fore as much.

I think it's unfair how people are saying they didn't know she had a kid until letters got read . Are people forgetting when she entered? And when she talked about her pregnancy craving for fairy liquid . Brooke even joked about her not knowing what birth control is hence her having a child. I guess all those things have slipped people's minds .

Because some people like to get to know the housemates they're watching?

I guess this is one of the main problems BB has had on C5, especially with no LF. They can do as many twists and tasks and force as much drama as they like but if the public aren't invested in the housemates themselves there's little reason to actually care.

It's these little bits of personal information and people's quirks that you miss out on without live feed. You knew the housemates more personally in the glory days.

HM's talking about their family isn't the be and end all. If Sian was so abysmally boring she had to constantly talk about her family to appeal to the viewer, she shouldn't have been there in the first place. Sian was picked to entertain the viewers - not tell her life story.

If there is no airtime of her talking about her son 'Shes a terrible mother, she never talks about her son'.

If she does talk about her son. 'She's boring and has no personality and only talks about her son'.

If she does talk about her son and its not aired. 'Why should we see her talk about her son'.

The sian hate on this forum is a bit of a joke in my opinion. She's not set a foot wrong in that house, and for people to call her bitchy because shes made just a few odd remarks in 50 odd days is ridiculous [especially when their own favorites make these remarks multiple times per a highlights show]. She doesn't get involved in drama or arguments at all. She is hands down one of the nicest housemates this year. I like to look at all housemates objectively and applaud housemates I dislike also. Fair enough Sian has barely featured and you can call her boring and not want her in the finale as she hasn't contributed, but to call her a mean girl/catty/terrible mother is just incorrect and in a way a stupid opinion to have.
