The reason for EC3’s horrendous main roster booking has been revealed thanks to Jon Moxley’s now legendary Talk Is Jericho podcast appearance.

The former Dean Ambrose noted that WWE booking EC3 to beat him in two minutes on Raw instantly turned fans against the newcomer.

At house shows, heel Ambrose was cheered and EC3 was booed by fans when they wrestled. In many towns, Ambrose was the most over babyface on the show.

“It turned you into a martyr” observed host Chris Jericho.

Moxley agreed. He said that fans had become aware of him leaving (thanks to a bizarre WWE press release) and they could immediately see that WWE was trying to bury him on the way out.

Moxley said that fans refused to play along. Even though he was a heel they cheered him because they appreciated everything he had put his body through to entertain them over the previous eight years.

EC3 was immediately pushed down the cards and rarely allowed to wrestle on television from that point on.

Dave Meltzer followed up on the EC3 burial on Wrestling Observer Radio, saying that WWE gave up on the NXT graduate immediately when the win over Ambrose received a negative reaction.

“The very next week or the week after they beat EC3 with a guy that was leaving the company. That’s a 100% what happened. It’s ridiculous.”

“So to them, after a guy that has one TV match that was two and a half minutes and he’s not getting cheered at the house shows, to then give up on him, that’s insanity, but that in fact, is exactly what they did.”

More than TEN WWE Superstars have requested their release in recent weeks apparently. No exact number, but definitely double figures.

Names rumoured to be among those:

1. Apollo Crews
2. Robert Roode
3. Killian Dain
4. Tyler Breeze (maybe not anymore seeing as he's back in NXT it seems)
5. Rusev
6. Lana
7. Shinsuke Nakamura (such a shame)

Gallows and Anderson are of course waiting for their contracts to expire and have not re-signed, this is known.

Also, Luke Harper, despite announcing he had requested his release weeks and weeks ago, has still not been let go by WWE. The company even added an extra six months on to his current contract to make up for time he was injured... They're basically keeping him around out of spite.

Add Sasha Banks to that list too of course, though it seems likely she's returning soon after having meetings with Vince/HHH.

It seems like War Raiders' awful name changes upon being called up have hit a nerve with NXT creative, so much so that it looks like they've given five NXT guys new "Vince approved names" well in advance it seems...

3. Jessie Elaban is now Jessie Kamea
4. Luke Menzies is now Ridge Holland
5. Eric Bugehagen is now Rik Bugez

Ronda was the one legit star appeal. Let’s be real she’s the reason they main evented mania, so I’m not surprised.

The only women they "properly" use as of late are Becky, Charlotte, Lacey, Bayley, Alexa, Nikki Cross (ish), Zelina (ish), Carmella and The IIconics (even more ish).

Meaning we have all of the following sitting in catering or used badly:

doing absolutely NOTHING of note. They need to start getting behind most of that list. The fact that amazing talent such as Ember, Asuka, Kairi, Ruby, Sarah and also Sonya are not focal to the division and to an extent "afterthoughts" is very bad.

I think a few releases would be good honestly. Tamina, Lana, Alicia and Mickie probably wouldn't be missed. Could see Dana going too.
