He was the MP that stopped the Bill of Upskirting
that has now got through. FGM is Evil and would have been made illegal with new force https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-47173445 [Sir Christopher Chope shouted "object" in a debate on laws protecting children from female genital mutilation. His Conservative colleague, Zac Goldsmith, said his actions were "appalling" - Lib Dem Tom Brake said the MP had "reached a new low". Sir Christopher has argued his aim is to stop badly thought-out legislation.] Last edited by arista; 08-02-2019 at 04:15 PM. |

Maybe private member bills should be objected to. But not at this cost of children's private members.

I think unless he has and states a valid reason for objecting rather than just objecting to prove a point, his objection should be disregarded

Absolutely. Children's safety shouldn't be used as a way to protest

Exactly, if he'd have said "i disagree with this bill because (reasons)" he'd still be an idiot, but voting it down as a protest against the process should invalidate his vote, as it's not based on anything.

The man is a utter ****. This archaic way of beating down a bill is preposterous and needs looking at. Today. And this dickhead needs pensioning off.
