A section of France want out, but 61% of the public believe the EU has been a benefit to their nation, so that's not true.

Italy is a different case as they've always toyed with right/far right politics (I'm being kind), and to expand on this further, a politician was recently discovered to have been personally funded by Putin, who would definitely be a major beneficiary from the collapse of the EU.

Still not clear on what the options should be on a second referendum

Ok so have Mays deal and No Deal but those aren't the only two visions of Leave and what if Remain wins the referendum but without a majority? Or it's quite likely Remain gets a majority but on a lower turn out so fewer people vote for it than voted Leave

This could actually help May if it scares the Brexiteers into backing her deal

let's face it, the issue of EU membership is absolutely huge
the ref was mishandled
it was advisory and the majority was not big enough

such a complex issue should be discussed beforehand with possible scenarios and projections prepared by independent experts
then the ref should be set as decisive and the majority should be set to, say 55%

the remainers are not prepared to let the country go down the pan bc of such flimsy and controversial result

I’m not convinced there’s a majority in parliament in support of a second referendum which is what has made this whole issue re. the Labour leadership rather futile

Having said that it was agreed on at conference so it seems only right that moves are made in that direction. The main concern is and should be ensuring we don’t crash out without a deal though, the way the PM is behaving is a disgrace

Exactly,it's like the vote to leave doesn't count and to suggest people didnt know what they were voting for is an insult, most people who want out are the older people so they WILL have an idea what it would be like as they lived ok before we joined, What a terrible way to be really,"Oh we dont like the way that vote went, lets pretend they didn't know what they were doing " What's the point in voting if our vote isnt adhered to unless it fits certain groups. The country voted out the only fair thing to do is get out,but it's a long time since Britain was fair,so the sore losers will probs get thier way.

the brexiteers and quite a proportion of the labour party wont vote for a new ref, so i don't know how the figures will add up.

I agree that a simple yes/no is no longer appropriate, and if then the leave option is split into 2 or 3 options, it also splits the vote leaving it free for remain. Re-asking the same question is the only "workable" option at this point even though its stupid, but no other option will be considered fair by the conflicting interests.

Unless there's a remain option it's pretty much guaranteed to not get through parliament. The cynic in me thinks this is what Corbyn wants to happen

I feel it's not a wise move.
However more defections were likely without this.
It was a decision put in place at Party conference.
Also the vast majority of the massive membership want this too.

So probably inevitable the pressure on Corbyn to concede to supporting this.
I doubt his heart is in it.
Then again leaders of Parties don't always or even often sometimes, get their own way.

If leaving is still the will of the people then leave will win again, the only reason you have to fear the referendum is if the will of the people has changed.

The only people that will seek to block this referendum are people who believe they might lose and don't want democracy to win out.

Let people either reaffirm that they want to leave or if, after all that's happened, they want to stay. Democracy is democracy.
