Default LinkedIn - useful or useless?

I'm currently trying to build a LinkedIn profile to aid in finding employment, does anyone have any experience with this site? (hopefully success stories ) Or is it a waste of time

I think companies like to see it if you have links to a lot of people. But I never used it properly while at college and have no type of professional connections on mine, just (a small amount of) people from my college and what not so... waste of time for me

And the current company I work for gives no ****s about it

I started using it properly a few months back and found my new job through it. They have some pretty good jobs and you get email updates for any new roles that match your skills/experience.

Tbf it's pretty nice to have one, just helps build a professional profile easier online and lets employers see your previous experience or any additional experience you might not fit on your CV/be relevant to the job you're applying for. It's also usually one of the first search results that comes up when you get googled, which is better than having an old pic from 2009 or something pop up first

This is true, especially the last part

Its worth it
but you need to get the right connections
they send lots of emails etc.

Not a waste of time
as you may connect to a great company
they need your talent etc.
