Default Madonna should have retired 20 years ago

I have seen her on a few shows recently promoting her new album and its just so cringe and just shouts desperation. When you combine that with her tragic recent live performance, it's game over. Why do so many continue to force themselves on the public when their voices after years of abuse are just tragically bad

at least she's one of the older generation artists who still continues to experiment with music, rather than some of those who just remaster their older tracks or those who go into the outdated pop songs direction with cover albums

...I don’t find her voice tragically bad.....I know she had a stumble on stage a few years ago...many younger artists have had stumbles and also not the greatest of vocals from time to time ...but they’re not expected to retire cos they’re younger innit......she’s amazing, she’s incredible..age is no barrier to her talent, she’s adapting it...my goodness, the energy she has.....

she probably has no decent pals who would take her to one side and say how tragic she has become

which is sad

the clear sexism is disgusting, you’ve got acts like mick jagger, rod stewart and bruce springsteen (who’s released his album at the same time as madonna) who don’t constantly get criticised because of their age, but of course since madonna is female that’s all she ever gets these days.

Madonna has never been an amazing vocalist sure but she sure can sing, her music is in a different type of category as to other singers as she uses her vocals in a different type of way which still has made her the highest selling female artist of all time so

I bet you haven’t even listened to her recent album anyway which critically is her most acclaimed album since 2005..

Rod honestly didn't sound good at all, as we've heard him last year on one of strictly results shows

Madonna is more a popstar, complete package than a singer

bruce springsteen isn't on the best level anymore either but you don't hear many complaining about him

Her whole performance itself was equally as bad as her singing.

It was just awful through and through.

What did she do that "shouts desperation"?

Why do we never hear people tearing down Rod Stewart, Elton, Mick Jagger, and Bruce Springsteen for still being active (and in Elton's case looking ridiculous)?
Pure good old fashioned sexism, and before anyone says these men don't take their clothes off, well neither does Madonna these days either.

Meanwhile, here's Iggy Pop strutting his stuff topless at 71.

No "Put it away, Grandpa" comments for him?

When people aren't tearing Madonna down for her revealing outfits, they're tearing her down for "being rude, bitchy and talentless", when in fact, she is the same outrageous woman with the same sarcastic, dry sense of humour she was from 20 years ago, only now she's older with a big family and suffers more from anxiety because of clueless snowflakes flocking to her IG to tell her she's "an old hag who needs to retire". This combined with constant, spiteful articles from the likes of Piers Morgan and Roger Friendman attacking her for being active and refusing to bend to societies expectations of an ageing woman is pathetic, so who can blame her for being constantly on guard?
Now that she's covered up, they're telling her to shut up, retire and take up knitting - preferably out of sight in the privacy of her own home, so I say good for her for doing the complete opposite.

and I have no idea why people are making such a big deal over her voice at Eurovision considering they've been saying she hasn't been able to sing since day one.

Anyway, here's an article that sums up my thoughts and feelings on this...
https://inews.co.uk/opinion/madonna-...be-outrageous/

"Madonna is the most successful female musical artist of all time; a music, fashion and culture A-lister for four decades. One of our most defiantly outspoken of all female role models really doesn’t need me to defend her.

But if one ever wondered what misogyny, casual and overt ageism, being patronised and suffering vituperative ridicule looked like, then look no further than the spiteful reactions to her new Madame X persona and her appearance on the Graham Norton Show this weekend.

Celebrities don’t do chat shows for fun, however lovely Norton is. Danny Boyle. Lily James and Himesh Patel were promoting “Yesterday” and Sir Ian McKellan was touting his one-man show.

Madonna is pushing Madame X, her first album in four years. She was drily funny, genuinely pleased to be sitting with Boyle, whose Trainspotting film she admires, and admitted honestly she didn’t recall working with McKellan, with whom she sparred playfully. She has adopted a Madame X vaudeville persona for the album: all bustier and eye patch.

Madonna is the one time “Material Girl”, “Vogue”, “Evita” and “Queen of Pop” and so many more. Like David Bowie, the key to her longevity is talent, chutzpah and re-invention. Unlike David Bowie, she is ridiculed at every turn for having the temerity to put herself out there and subvert cultural expectations. If that includes pushing up her boobs via an excruciatingly tight bustier and wearing an eye patch for “the look”, what of it?

“Holiday”, her first hit, came out in 1983. What were you like 36 years ago? Do you look, think and sound the same? I saw her first world tour at Wembley Stadium in 1987. There was a real frisson about seeing a global icon then – perhaps like Beyoncé today. She had already created a rebel persona with the attendant criticism for her outspokenness. Fast-forward 30-plus years and her honest concerns about moving to Portugal to be a soccer mom, or the dangers of social media, or being asked for sexual favours by powerful men only lead to her being damned.
Ageism

How should she behave at 60? She has no real role models at her level of fame. Why should she conform to notions of behaviour and dress that are rooted in our casual ageism and misogyny? Some admire her for supposedly giving “zero *******s”, but as she spoke of her children perhaps wishing Madonna wasn’t their mother for an easier life, it’s clear she actually does. The kneejerk, patronising and spiteful criticism she receives in truth reveals more about us than her."

He looks awful there, Nicky. I mean, everything from the wig, to the pink jacket. What a mess, but that's ok apparently because... "We love, Elton" right?

Don't get me wrong, I love some of his music, but his personality is awful.

He even fallen out with Tina Turner at one point and Tina is lovely.

Tina for sure is lovely, i saw her here at a dutch musical awards to present a lifetime achievement award for our longtime musical producer joop van den ende, and she asked if he could make a musical based on her life with her music

Did you not see her performance at Eurovision ~ that was tragic and we agreed here its time for her to call it a day, but was our opinion.
I also saw a bit of her on Graham Norton and her lips were so pumped up she could hadly talk never mind pronounce words so how the hell does she sing through all that filler ?

Who agreed?

There's always been a 50/50 mixed reaction on here regarding Madonna, so I don't know how you came to that conclusion.

Madame X is one of the most exciting/fun albums of 2019 so idk why age even comes into it when she’s still releasing stuff miles better than what the younger pop gals are putting out
