Default Bio Ethanol Fires (advice)

We are looking to do away with our open fire for something more enviromently friendly, we are looking to get a Bio Ethanol fire as it has real flame but no chimney, ashes or fitting, does anyone on here have experience or have one of of these ,are they good value ? I am told the fuels easy to get just wanting some reviews really as it's really new to us. I do love our open fire, but these look so nice.

Here are some of them

I've never heard of them Kaz but looking at them has made me think I could possibly use one of those in my front room as I wanted a woodburner but couldn't be doing with the faff of having to mess with it

They've got some lovely ones in that link Annie, I think you can buy the suites or just the fuel box and build them up yourselves like buying coals ,driftwood ,pebbles or logs for them , but they would be ideal for that cosy look without the mess, I will let you know if we get one, Apparently you don't need a chimney and can get table top ones , but ideally I'de like the full suite , they do ones that look like wood burners too.

they look very beautiful Kaz, we used to have a real flame gas fire which I suppose was sort of the same thing, nice to look at though not as warm as a real fire, I suppose it depends if you want to rely on it for heating or not?

Both really Cherie , they do generate heat aswell and you can control the flames and have that cozy look and unlike gas we can buy the oil in bulk and have no bills ,or mess , lol I don't think anything is as warm as a real fire and I don't really mind the mess but this looks like it would pay for itself as no coal/logs to buy and no chimney sweeps to pay and better for the enviroment

We looked into buying the log fire looking model for our front room.
Anyhow, after much deliberation we have decided to go for the electric version instead.
More a question of it being simpler to just switch on the electric one.
If it’s your only heat source for the room then neither of them is suitable Kaz.
Only any use as a secondary heat source.
The fuel is readily available from B&Q and other similar outlets, cheaper than buying from the place you buy the fires.
They do bogof every now and then

We've brought one smudgie,it's not the only source of heat as we have a radiator too, but wanted a nice focal point, ours fits into our original fire grate, but no mess,no smoke and no chimney to clean, we got ours from Wayfairs, happy with it so far.

Yes but the one we have is an open one that fits into our original grate.
