Default Netherlands, Brabant: Two men die after historic light aircraft collide in mid-air

Two people have been killed following a mid-air collision between two historic light aircraft in Brabant.

The two who died were in one of the planes which crashed into a field after the aircraft made contact. The other plane was able to land and both occupants have been taken to hospital.

All four were experienced pilots and the two planes were flying in formation, news agency ANP said. The two men who died came from Steenberg and Delft.

The two planes – both Piper Cubs – had taken off from Breda airport around 10am. The planes were part of the historical Vliegend Museum Seppe fleet based at the airport.

The Dutch safety board is investigating how the accident happened.
