Default Should we ban Halloween.

https://www.theguardian.com/lifeands...-say-charities

I don't really see any point in it, and I'm amazed it's such a huge issue now..

When I was a kid though it was thrilling the first time you knocked on a door but after that as long as you could sing you would have apples and sweets sometimes cash..it felt a bit Christmasy now I look back..

But all you would have on was a bed sheet...why do kids get spoiled so nowadays?

Especially when it's a pointless thing to do and it's clearly damaging our planet.

Last edited by parmnion; 29-10-2019 at 05:48 PM. Reason: Soiled kids ruined it all..I meant spoiled...or spoilt..

I would ban Black Friday first, a terrible American import that has nothing to do with Europe

That's soon..

More waste to deal with...October and November should be cancelled altogether.

Throw them both in the fire on bonfire night, which is now on new years eve.

Fireworks are dangerous, and anti social in the wrong hands..I like funny youtube videos though, so I thought I would move bonfire night to new years eve and put them in the hands of drunken Scotsmen.

Kids still find it fun, why take away something lighthearted that they enjoy?

I don't think it should be banned, but I do think people ahiuld be encouraged to exercise a bit of creativity and work with their kids to make outfits, either by upcycling old things or hitting the charity shops.
I went to a party as Robin this weekend and all I had to spend was 1.99 for an R patch.

Bonfire night, organised displays are fine and I guess if a bunch of idiots want to go off into the middle of nowhere and blow themselves up then fine, but yes I would ban them from being set off in gardens or public streets.

Organised bonfire nights can only burn trees I would imagine. Maybe the odd sofa, but mainly trees..

All for a warm glow

I don't think it's an option to ban an ancient Celtic festival

I agree. Let's also ban Christmas. Terrible holiday. Also, birthdays should be banned. Don't see the point in them. Whilst we're at it, scrap New Year's Eve celebrations! So pointless.

I'm sure they didn't waste eggs way back when it started. Let alone fill shops with damaging items to the planet..

I bet they didn't even knock on neighbours doors. ..so find another way to celebrate something completely pointless. That's what I say

Just make them all on new years day... just toss everything down on the table and say...here you go, this is your lot for the year....now I'm off to the pub to celebrate.

Blimey what has TIBB become BAH HUMBUG

Seriously if people used a bit of common sense we don't need to ban things that people enjoy, the only one I think needs sorting out is the firework one as some people are just thoughtless idiots, Displays are probably the best option.

That's what's happened though...luckily I've learned something tonight and Halloween is associated with an old Celtic festival.

I can only remember this being Americanised in the 90s
