Default Fireworks must be banned for the sake of animals

My dog is unbearable so scared and constantly panting and shaking.

I read that a dog had a heart attack a few days back due to fireworks and its unacceptable and immoral that people care more about setting the fireworks off then the health and safety of animals.

It's time to ban them once and for all and protect animals

AGREE I can't stand them. I've just spent the past couple of hours worrying because my cat hadn't come home, he's in now thankfully.

Can you put loud music on?
It does get over bearing.

Agreed!

They literally serve no purpose whatsoever, if people want to see them then they should only be allowed at organised events, they shouldn’t be sold to consumers in shops at all, thankfully my dogs aren’t scared of them, but my cats are horrified

I've read about two cases of dogs having heart attacks caused by them this year.
I don't see the need for any at all but the first step would be to ban them from sale to the public, at least with organised ones you know when they're happening so you ca somewhat prepare - but even then I wouldn't say it's worth the pay off

Not to mention the air pollution and danger to humans as well!

They’re such an annoyance I don’t get the appeal in spending Ł50 on some loud bangs and colours?

There’s firework carcasses all over my back garden, everything outside stinks of smoke from the bonfires. It’s bull**** tbh. Luckily my pets aren’t bothered by them but I know they can be awful for other animals

One mustn't forget the next generation though adam, they must be entertained at all costs...

Every family must explode 50 quids worth from the back garden of every house that has children...the next generation must be entertained though...

Pushy mothers... (on a par with the American child pageant mothers, if you ask me)

And dads going..."I've ****ing paid for them so they are going up, ok?"

Fireworks have been set off for the past 400 years, but it must be that damn new generation

I think there should be much stricter laws on fireworks, people forget that they are literally explosives.

They absolutely need to be banned. I mean people don't even stick to the time rules either. Someone was setting them off at quarter past 11 last night! Along with all the fear it brings to pets, it also brings fear to people with sensitive ears, my daughter was really scared last night as we had to go somewhere(not bonfire related) and lots were going off as we were walking down the street she was holding her ears and screaming because of her sensitive hearing

Also yes pets get scared but let's think of all the wild animals out there that also must be scared and they don't have owners to comfort them

So yes absolutely ban them. Public displays only!

Only place you would see them when I was a kid was at a bonfire display...they certainly didn't go on for ten days running.

hmmm, i don't know for me personally about this one, i like watching fireworks from my bedroom

although my mom hates them since our dog also gets very stressed, shaky (and she has already gone through a lot, been in a rescue shelter in La Linea, spain, before that possibly lived on Streets too we even don't know her exact age)

for the sake of animals, yes but i do myself enjoy watching fireworks (the arrows then i mean, put a ban on the more louder firework bombs)

The bonfires need to stop, and firework displays are lovely if there was a way to do them with no bang ones?

Even at organised displays it has to be fairly near residential areas or nobody would go.

We've had quiet fireworks before. As well as pets, where I live there are lots of horses, pigs, sheep etc... They still make a noise but it's a "pfffft!"rather than a bang!

We just googled "quiet fireworks".

the ''Bang'' fireworks, are called firework bombs

few people in same street as us bought those few years back, very annoying too but we normally put the sound of our tv a lot up than usual

i also keep thinking to myself, if you can buy that lot of fireworks, then there is no economical crisis

also one guy who lived at corner of our street and another, had put his car in his garage, scared of people throwing fireworks against it probably

but the more colourful fireworks, are also the more ''quiet'' ones, those are just the standard arrows

By default I think they should be organised displays only but, even then, some of the booms at the display we went to last night were insane... there were one or two that made my jacket visibly "blast back" a bit . Plus, the ones that got the biggest "oooooh"s weren't even the big bangs, they were the ones that go with a little "pop" then spread out over a massive area, then sort of "fizzle" brightly as they fall. The ones with the loudest sounds weren't actually all that impressive visually...

Not really much of a problem where I live but we do have regular army training drills as there are 2 forts nearby so sometimes there's lots of gunshots, doesn't really bother the dog and cat much though

Some parts of Italy ban certain fireworks or use silent only
