A Brexit Party candidate being forced to leave against his will is oddly poetic

Jessica Meuse was robbed.

Tbf we don't know the full story yet.
If it's true however then Morrison's are creating a very dangerous precedent in this country that businesses can throw you out of their shop just because they don't like your political opinions (right or left) and it could even go to things such as religion or race (which UKIP suggested a policy similar to that a few years ago I think) so I pray that it isn't true.

[Footage circlated widely on social media shows a man with a stack of leaflets being pushed out of the Denton branch by a security guard and being told to "******* off". The man, who claimed to be the Brexit Party's parliamentary candidate in the area, refused to leave the doorway area and said he only wanted to come in for a cup of tea. The Brexit Party candidate for Denton and Reddish is Martin Power. Brexiteers reacted with outrage to the incident, sharing the video widely on social media. "Was this man refused entry to your shop because he was carrying @brexitparty_uk leaflets?" asked Twitter user Megan.] [The hashtag #BoycottMorrisons spread on Monday, with anti-Brexit customers vowing on Twitter not to shop there until they were removed. The chain denied responsibility for distributing the newspaper and suggested a member of the public had put them on display.] Taken from the Anti Brexit "European Paper" And a Newspaper link on this mess. https://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/12...wberry-2019-UK Last edited by arista; 21-11-2019 at 01:38 AM. |

....by what was said in the vid..’I was just talking to the guy’...he may have been canvassing customers in the store/coffee shop..?...were they Morrison’s security, then...?...it did look very heavy handed, I wouldn’t have said it needed two people ...but there needs to be more context or a statement from Morrison’s..?..

All the security guy had to do was ask him to put away his leaflets and not to canvas in the shop, no need to push him or be verbally abusive

So the person filming just happens to take his leaflets and hold it up to the camera... and doesn't catch any of the reason why he was ejected from the store in the first place (I don't believe any supermarkets allow you to hand out leaflets in-store, though?)... nothing staged about this whatsoever

...” A Morrisons spokesperson told The New European that customers had been complaining about the man, who had reportedly been "forcing" leaflets onto them and had refused to leave the shop when asked.
The chain acknowledged that the security guard, who at one point pushed the man to the floor, "over-reacted". The spokesperson said: "Customers in our store complained about the man in the video because he was forcing leaflets onto them. Electioneering doesn't take place in our stores. "He was asked to leave the store but wouldn't. The security guard, who is from a security company, over-reacted and we are dealing with this." ...they were obviously acting on customer complaints...but an overreaction by the security guard...it’s good that it’s been acknowledged immediately by Morrison’s and is being addressed...I’m assuming that security guards are given correct manhandling training, but it wasn’t practised there... |

And from what I've been told it seems like he was campaigning in their shop which I'm thinking has seen customers complain about this Brexiter harassing them whilst shopping, which has seen them (correctly) kick him out of their store for disrupting their business.

I read he was handing out leaflets. You would need the owner's permission to canvass inside the store so they were right to chuck him out. Similarly with the black guy thrown out by the Oxford Union, they both should have left when asked... but the heavy handed approach was wrong in both instances.

...there was no reason to ask the black guy to leave...he was attending a debate, which was the exact purpose of everyone being there...and he was disabled/blind and should never have been manhandled in any way...the two can’t be compared..it may have been heavy handed by the security but there is no comparison to be made between the two incidents...

I can guarantee that no one in retail cares enough to throw someone out of their shop for just their political leanings, he had to be canvassing or harassing people to get a reaction. |
