Imagine it, going out on a night to have fun whilst raising for charity, and some random starts yapping on about brexit....it don't matter how you are voting you would just boo and yawn in thier face.

Quand il pleut, il pleut

...I guess that I agree with what Greg James said...Nish Kumar gave his time for free in support of the charity event and didn’t deserve to be abused...either verbally or baguettably....he hadn’t realised that any people would be offended and has apologised if his act ‘triggered any of the audience..’...
‘BBC Radio One DJ Greg James – a huge cricket fan and Lord's Taverners ambassador – today tweeted a staunch defence of the comedian and criticised the people who booed him. 'I'd just like to say that the treatment of @MrNishKumar by some members of the crowd at the @LordsTaverners fundraising Christmas lunch yesterday was appalling', he said. 'It's a charity I was proud to be an ambassador of and the work they do with disadvantaged young people is extraordinary. 'But yesterday served as a timely reminder that disagreeing with someone doesn't mean you have the right to abuse them verbally or physically. 'I was devastated for Nish (who gave his time for free) I was embarrassed to be there. On an afternoon that was supposed to be about kindness, there was a distinct lack of it in the room.' ....anyways, the lunch still raised £160,000 for the charity and Nish Kumar seemed to take it all in good spirits and made light of it... 'In my defence, it was only one bread roll and it missed me.'......well done to him for giving his time and energies to the event...and for all who attended and helped raise an amazing sum... |

People are not obliged to find a comedian funny, surely. And they were having Christmas lunch, I imagine a certain amount of alcohol had been downed.
Anyway, I refuse to believe it's the first time Nish Kumar has been booed off. |

They knew his remit, if you are at an event and being entertained for free you may not like all the acts...There's no reason not to remain polite and respectful though.
The male, pale and stale doing what they do best here. Imo

Because comedians can make jokes about anything.
Only snowflakes call it a political rant when they don't like the subject matter. Last edited by Marsh.; 03-12-2019 at 10:22 PM. |

Either way the crowd should be more respectful towards people, We've all probably attended events where we've not liked certain individuals but you shouldn't want to hurt/throw Bread Rolls at them. Imo it says more about the crowd than it does about the Comedian, and I like you Marsh find it funny how some of these people on Social Media are being Snowflakes about the Comedian but are quick to call Remainers Snowflakes.

The whole 'you weren't THERE!!!!' argument really doesn't work out when the most obvious answer as to why this happened only takes a bit of common sense. Honestly, what do people have against common sense these days? |

I honestly don't know what you are going on about in this post at all but you attempting to move the goalposts by seemingly making out that I'm going after disabled people by saying that it's common sense to think that brexiters don't like anti-brexit materials. You're connecting all these imaginary dots and you are pretending to care about the disability highlighted at this charity but your intent is transparent, you are using disibility as a weapon, you are virtue signalling hard as a way to make me look bad by trying to frame this as me painting disabled people as racists and it's honestly gross, a very low and undignified move. Do not use other people's disabilities as a tool to push your own political agenda. Trying to paint this situation as anything other than the most obvious answer requires nothing short of world class logic gymnastics. An anti-brexit set didn't go down well with a pro-brexit crowd. All this other spiel you've come out with about Nick Griffin sheds more light on your own motives more than anything, you're being defensive and jumping to conclusions that don't make sense. |

You weren’t there, so you are not in possession of the full facts of what went on, just some snippets and anecdotal evidence, it was raining bread rolls a few pages back that has now been confirmed by the comedian himself as actually being one bread roll...given the chortling over people being milkshaked I thought you would approve of bread rolling...no?

The Lord Taverners used to donate money per child in the special needs school I worked in so each child got a Christmas present, they also collect in the cold outside Sainsbury’s each year, some of them are not so pale

if this were the first occasion that a comedian had been booed off the stage, or heckled, or had stuff thrown at him it would be news, but it's not, it has happened 100's of times before. Comedians tell controversial jokes all the time, some people like it, others take offence. Thats the life of a comedian
