I'll make it really simple for you...

Older people feeling less inhibited to say the offensive things on their mind does not make the offensive things on their mind any better.

Alzheimers or "getting old" doesn't create racist/offensive thoughts. Just means they're likely to say them where normally they'd keep it to themselves.

Kind of like excusing the rantings of a drunk person for being drunk. The alcohol didn't create the rantings, just made the person relaxed enough to verbalise them!

So google "old people say racist things" all you like!

If we’re being honest .. you /we will all know people who occasionally ‘think’ racist things but never say anything ..

I mean...

1) This isn't the original video, it's a lip sync.

2) It's a "viral TikTok" and you can therefore be 90% sure it didn't literally happen. That's not to say it DOESN'T happen, but you can be pretty sure that this specific example is fiction.

3) One of the first things they say is "they were clearly mentally ill", and ignoring parts 1) and 2) and pretending that this IS a real thing... no, I don't think it's "funny" to talk about or encourange violence e.g. "punching a mentally ill person in the throat" for any reason, it's actually pretty grim. Mentally ill and learning disabled people say inappropriate and offensive things. No one has to accept it or like it but maybe not applaud aggressive language and assault .

"Getting old" no but alzheimers and other dementia this is actually a gross over-simplification; they definitely CAN come along with a "tourettes-like" compulsion to say the most inappropriate thing. It doesn't mean that person was secretly racist when they were younger, it's literally a thought process of "what would be the worst thing someone could say right now" and that actually being verbalised.

Again, of course, none of this actually happened but I guess that's the problem. Fictional viral videos generating a tidal wave of un-nuanced outrage-opinion based on little to nothing at all and everyone feeding off each other to generate whole belief sets based on layperson opinion instead of actual knowledge and understanding. 2020 innit.

Fair enough but far from the point Zizu was making.

Racism should not be toletated, no matter their age.

I imagine the tourettes-like older racists are a very slim number.

I'd like you to point out where I condoned any violence or said anyone "deserved to die".

What a stupid response. Don't invent things

Not sure what point you're making. I'm sure we do know those people, racist thoughts are racist thoughts.

Not really. The discussion became more general about the topic, not specific to the video.

That's a lot of hoops to jump through to defend a racist.

Would you suggest tolerating racist ideologies?

Why take everything out of context .. just to be provocative ?

I was just applauding the concept of us all being a little more tolerant of others ..
