Default Clashing with World Cup

Ok so BB3 starts during the world cup. Who Cares! I am a huge football fan and a huge BB fan.

The World Cup is in Japan so the games will be on early morning so they won't really clash with the BB programs. If you are a real football fan you will watch the matches live.

The first eviction clashes with the Argentina game. That match is live at 9am and why would you watch the repeat when you already know the result?

I have been a huge BB addict since the first day of series 1. In the whole of BB2 I think I only missed a few hours overall, including the E4 live coverage! It started on my last day of college and I sat there waiting for the website to become live and watched the first few hours liveon the pc. I even watched the final live in Lanzerote!

So don't get all pesamistic just yet. BB3 will be huge, world cup or no world cup. And I personally can't wait Roll on May 25th!

I actually read somewhere that they hadn't yet decided on the start date for Big Brother 3.
They might yet delay the start to July so that it does not coincide with the World Cup.
I would have thought that the BB producers wouldn't want their show to be relegated to the inside pages of the tabloids. It's the type of show that thrives on the publicity it gets.

Hi there, DaMaNiAc - welcome to the forum.

Great name - but not so easy to type!!

You're in good company here then! Who were your favourite housemates in BB1 and BB2?

I agree with discolady that the World Cup matches shouldn't interfere too much, if at all with my BB3 viewing. Although, as a Scot, I obviously don't have the same interest in the World Cup as in previous years (the first week anyway, until we were sent home for an early bath! )

James - I though it had been announced that BB3 would be starting on 25th May - or was that another 'exclusive' by The Sun which wasn't strictly true?

I thought they would start it later this year. I think that the Sun online article stating May 25th may be wrong. I am pretty sure it started around that time last year and it was only started then because of Davina and her pregnancy.

And anyway May 25th is a Saturday and they would start the program on a monday.

Favourite Characters:

Series 1: My fave character in series 1 was Craig. He was so down to earth and obviously wasn't trying to play up to the cameras. Also when they had the baby task and he couldn't stop the baby crying it was one of the funniest things I saw on TV all year.

Series 2: I really liked Bubble and was incredibly shocked when he lost to Paul in the vote (as was everyone I know). After Bubble was evicted I really started to warm to Helen. She was quite naive and childish but some of the things she said just made me laugh. I tried to vote for her from a public phone box in Lanzerote but it wouldn't let me. I knew Brian would win from day 1 and I am sure he will have a long TV career to look forward to.

Did BB2 not start on a Saturday?

I thought it did, or is my memory playing tricks on me?

It was a poster on one of the other message boards that said that the May the 25th start date was just a rumour and nothing had been confirmed yet. He claims to have some inside information from Endemol.

According to the book, the housemates entered the last house on Friday May the 25th. I think maybe the programme started the following day.

I'm Scottish too. What do you think of that SNP MSP who says we should all support England?

Just looked it up and it started on Friday 25th May last year. This may be where Sun Online got the date from so if it starts in May again this year it will probably start on Friday 24th May not 25th

OK, I've given this some consideration, and here's what I think:

Asking Scotland supporters to support England in the World Cup is like asking Everton supporters to support Liverpool because they're in the FA Cup Final.

I'll certainly be watching the World Cup and hope England do well, but I won't be actively supporting them. The national team I support is Scotland. Just because they're not at the World Cup doesn't mean I should switch my alliegance to a team who are.

Does that make sense? (.... and not a swear word in sight!)

The England match is on at 9am so if you plan to watch the evening showing instead of the eviction it won't be live football.

Its going to be annoying the World Cup is on so early in the morning. Most people like going to the pub and watch it with a really lively atmosphere but its gonna be watched with sleepy eyes and cups of tea substituing beer!
Oh well, I think I am gonna watch it cause it doesnt come round very often! And I am glad I will be able to watch the Big Brother eviction!
