I Love my brick

Following a bidding war, British television station ITV has reportedly emerged as the frontrunner to air the tell-all interview given by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to Oprah Winfrey.
Last week Oprah flew to California to complete filming on the hotly anticipated interview, during which the Harry and Meghan will reportedly lift the lid on tensions within the Royal Family, as well as issues including their mental health, their move to the US and their hopes and plans for the future. Days after filming wrapped, Buckingham Palace confirmed Queen Elizabeth’s decision to strip the Duke and Duchess of Sussex of their remaining titles and patronages, which was based on the belief that ‘it is not possible to continue with the responsibilities and duties that come with a life of public service’ if the couple continues to pursue commercial interests. The CBS interview is due to air in the US on March 7, and it has been reported that ITV seems to have come out on top of the scramble among British media outlets to secure the rights to the 90-minute special. According to Variety, both Sky and the BBC have withdrawn from the bidding war, as they are set to air a special with Queen Elizabeth mere hours before the Oprah tell-all airs in the US. It has been reported that the Viacom CBS Global Distribution Group is keen to sell the overseas broadcast rights to a free-to-air station, thereby ruling out subscription-based services such as Amazon Prime and Netflix. Meghan and Harry have reportedly indicated their preferred broadcaster, another factor tipping ITV, as the Duchess of Sussex previously gave an emotional interview to ITV presenter Tom Bradby. https://extra.ie/2021/02/25/entertai...prah-interview

The Bradbury connection makes sense
It would have been better without adverts in my view Obviously ITV can charge the earth to advertisers in those slots

Let's face it
Its a financial based friend interviewing another financial based friend Its fake, a set-up. Its not Andrew Neil or Paxman asking uncomfortable questions, its not even on a par with a Jonathon Ross interview or Life stories It has no journalistic integrity. Its an advertorial - like the paid for promotions you see in magazines where "the client" writes the copy and they love it but its totally unreadable for the actual reader. "Why do you care sooo much about babies and puppies Meghan?" "Can you be any more philanthropic?" "you were hounded out of the UK by a few relatively negative articles in like 3newspapers you don't read, have you found happiness in your 20 million dollar far too big house in LA??" "Can we talk about all your money grabbing..i mean making projects?" If you want to watch that i just cant imagine why anyone would - its like recording a series and just watching the ad-breaks |

People who hate Meghan will be first in line to watch the interview. I for one can't be arsed with it, if anything interesting happens, I'm sure someone on here will rush to make a topic.

...it’s due to be aired on the 8th March here and still ITV as the channel it will be shown on...but I’m sure there’ll be media stories and bits of the interview etc to be seen after it airs in the USA the previous evening, which is annoying because we’ll get out of context clips and then the whole thing...I’m presuming it’ll be showed in full and not edited highlights...

Really more to get the correct story of what they say, from their own mouths, and not what those against them portray as what they twist as to what they said or meant. I wish them well, I was indifferent to them. However I hate unnecessary character assassination of anyone, especially someone another doesn't really know and never will. Unless they break laws or really impact on our lives, I see no likely rational reasoning behind that. So I will watch it now. I would guess, a great bulk of the viewers will be those who just want to nitpick on every little thing she says, possibly even on how she sits or even facial expressions too. If I intensely disliked someone or some celebrity, I just would give a wide berth to them. I'm neither interested in what a celebrity I didn't like was saying or doing. So would never sit down in my own home and watch them, or listen to them. As you said, there'll be out of context snippets of it. There'll be outrage, if anything is remotely said that indicates a dig at the Queen. From possibly people, not on here, who aren't even bothered if we kept a Monarchy or not and maybe even would vote to abolish it. The Palace doesn't get things right all the time, the Queen and the Palace got the public mood desperately wrong re Diana after her death. Respect is a 2 way thing, whether that's to or from the Monarchy and the Palace in my view. I think the Royal full working duty set up as it still remains, is a very cold, uncompromising and robotic existence. Anyway, normally I wouldn't have likely watched this. However will now. Not to nitpick at it, just to get the words from their own mouths and not from those who'd choose to twist everything they say and do, to only a negative. No one, I don't care who they are, are wrong all the time, or right all the time either. |

The people who hate them deserve to be wound up even more so I hope it’s ugly. They really
can go about their life but they choose to immerse themselves in it and have someone to hate. |

i could not think of anything worse than watching a stage-managed, scripted 2 hour PR advert. the interviewer being a friend as if anything said will be real.
i am sure most people will watch for a laugh more than anything else |

[ITV1HD will show Oprah with Meghan and Harry:
A Primetime Special at 8pm UK time on Monday March 8] [Some ITV viewers have already vowed to boycott the show while advertisers may also be put off by furore] https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...an-Monday.html Last edited by arista; 03-03-2021 at 09:50 AM. |

I also recommend the Harry & James Corden thing, it's on youtube. Honestly quite painful to watch... really uncomfortable... totally compelling. There's rope climbing and all sorts. But Harry actually comes across well in the end. I think maybe that's the tactic... if you put anyone next to James Corden, they end up looking amazing because of the juxtaposition. |

I will watch it but only if after I see the reaction from the US airing, and when I can fast forward through the ads breaks of which there will be many

Some say "If you don't like them, why watch"? Well, the simple answer is they are a fascinating study in egomania. A pandemic, millions dead worldwide, families grieving and so many struggling, many people who don’t have the elite privileges that these 2 have - the money, servants, nanny’s, 3 million dollar house, multi million dollar deals - are meanwhile struggling with their mental health but can't bleat about it in a grossly self indulgent tv 'special'. Meanwhile Harry happily larks around on a bus and he and Meghan (wearing a $4,700 dress) are doing that 2 hour special with plenty of poor us and victimhood and ‘our mental health' thrown in. And no doubt they'll talk about their compassion and how they want to live a life of service - more empty words like we've had before. Unbelievable. |
