Thumbs down National Trust removes dog poo bins as too many people use them

  • Park rangers at Ludshott Common in east Hampshire cannot keep up with waste
  • They say bags are being left on top of overflowing bins and hanging from trees
  • National Trust says area around the bins has been left in a 'sad and sorry state'
  • Bosses of charity have decided to remove bins from the 735 acre beauty spot
  • They are instead urging dog owners to take their waste bags home with them

spot because they keep overflowing. Pictured: An overflowing dog poo bin at

Dog poo bins have been removed from a popular National Trust beauty spot
because they keep overflowing.

Park rangers at Ludshott Common in Hampshire say they have been able to
keep up with the amount of dog poo bags being left at the 735 acre site.

Unable to put their bags in the red waste bins, dog walkers have turned to
stacking them on top.

Revenue £681 million (2019/20)
Staff 14,000
Volunteers 53,000

'As a charity, we have limited funds for waste disposal, so as a result, we
have made the difficult decision that the dog waste bins on Ludshott
Common will be removed.

Not even more bins just bigger bins - they're usually tiny but you could easily have a "full bin bag sized" bin there . Wouldn't even need emptied more often.

50,000 volunteers

£681 million revenue

Look at how they weasel it out saying they are a "charity" as if that has any relevance

empty 3 times more often

DOnt waste money on diversity training and woke nonsense

I'm seeing far more of it on the ground these days. People not cleaning it up after themselves.

They need bigger, more and emptying more often, if people are picking up and bagging this should be encouraged, too many lazy sods that leave it on the ground.

Tbh it's probably better to just kick (or nudge) the poop off the path. Animals poop, it happens! Including the not-pets who live in the Parks. Poop enters the life cycle, and not using as much plastic is only a good thing !

(For the record, I always pick up after Daisy)

They need new bins with "for humans use only" and they need to make them easier to perch on.
