Lady Hussey is 83 years old

Kept pushing her
saying What part of Africa are you?

She told her Britain,
but Hussey kept pushing her.

Considering the Palace made very little of Meghans allegations but have issued a statement very quickly on this leads me to believe they believe there is a need to condemn the words used. I doubt there was malice behind the questions but as they have deviated from "never complain, never explain" its quite unusual and telling. It's a shame this will overshadow their USA tour

The poor lady is 83

how utterly insensitive of this entitled "charity worker" to do this to her and make out that she was a victim

No wonder the poor old lady was confused

Dressing and wearing your hair in a way that shows you are proud of your heritage but then refusing to discuss it when someone shows an interest

is controlling and nefarious especially to a lady in her 80s

Considering that Meghan and Harry are receiving an award next Tuesday partly for ‘bravely exposing institutional racism within the Royal family’, (Harry’s OWN family with no proof whatsoever of it) in their 17 lie Oprah interview the Royals have to be particularly careful.

The only proven racism I have ever heard of in the family is from Harry himself.

What they are doing; the damage they are trying to cause without any substance is an absolute disgrace. Even most of the US press are scratching their heads and sneering over the award and calling it pure nepotism.

Philip is well documented for making some very public comments that could be construed as racist during his time too

I wasn't aware of whatever award they are getting, it doesn't appear to be big news .

This is a situation that has happened here today, the lady in question is not a Royal per se so shouldn't be classed as such, BUT it has overshadowed the work Kate and William are doing which is a shame. I just found it interesting the spped in which Kensington Palace commented. Just an observation

H&M said it wasn't Prince Philip (or the Queen) that they were referring to.

There has been quite a bit of news coverage along the lines of:
'Royals don't accept awards, they give them'
'the timing within days of William and Kates visit is suspect'
'guests will pay millions to sit at H&M's table'.
'they have connections to the award givers' (nepotism)

What do you think about them accepting such an award? You didn't say.

I personally agree that her reaction was OTT.

However I also don't understand why the other woman was assuming that she was from an African country?

I'm well aware that they said it wasn't Philip. You said the only racism you have heard is from Harry himself.....I was saying that Philip has some documented comments too.

I couldn't care less if they accept a plastic award or not in all honesty. They are no longer working Royals so ca give awards/ accept awards all they want. The media in this country feed the madness, if they didn't report it, it would have passed and none of us would have know or cared.

What they do has no bearing on this story really though, my point was I hoped it would not overshadow Kate and Williams USA trip which it obviously is doing at the moment but hopefully it will be resolved by the resignation and Kennsington Palaces statement of condemnation. This incident today, not M &H.

It is rather ironic that the only proof of anything remotely racist from the royal family is a dead mans musings, and his grand sons photographic proof of a love of nazi ideology.

And that's not even bringing up harry nonchalance for repeating racist nicknames.

Harry's like one of those people who cant be racist cause they have different races friends, only it's his wife he uses to back up that claim, rather than Punjab bob, or whatever his army pal was called.

What does her look/clothing say to you Mock

England?

Is leopard print considered African attire?

Leopard print is the most popular print in Africa. Women typically wear it on different occasions such as weddings, graduations, and the like.

Well that's the thing, as soon as she spoke with her Cockney accent that should be a huge giveaway.

And about her being offended possibly if someone said she sounded like a Cockney is just a guessing game at this point.

It's Cultural Appropriation I tell you.

But seriously just because she wears African attire doesn't mean that she was born on that continent, it just means that she has heritage there.

Proper Londoners can tell the difference in accents between east n south london. People born in london are more proud of the area of London they are from than being from london. So I repeat, this woman, if shes so proud of her east london upbringing, would, and infact should, take more offence if someone in her borough thought she came from south London, rather than asking her if she was african because of her dress sense.

What would she reply I wonder if someone had actually asked her if she was African.. and also if the answer would depend on grandparents being in earshot.

The way she phrased it sounded like she was questioning the woman personally about where she was born.

Unless it's just the thread title being misleading.
