The average annual NHS earnings of a junior doctor, including those working part-time, is
Ł55,420, with the full-time equivalent average salary hitting Ł57,118. Further, NHS
employer pension contributions are over 20 per cent, compared with an average of 6 per
cent in the private sector.

As to the argument that doctors graduate with up to Ł100,000 of debt, unlike
baristas or bartenders, that may well be correct, although most owe less.
And remember that the taxpayer doesn’t spend over Ł200,000 subsidising
the tuition, living costs and clinical placements of staff at Costa.

those figures mean nothing though LT. The junior doctors are striking for more, they dont think they are being paid enough, so something has to happen to resolve it, and it's going to be more money. The government need to get round the table and talk to them

What an absolutely nonsensical statement -- they'd be getting paid more than double under a fully privatised system, and we would all be paying through the nose for healthcare (far more than we pay in taxes for the NHS). The idea that wanting more is greed driven by the left is just daft. Doctors are paid significantly more than in the UK in other countries.

Sorry I couldn't join you on the picket line, I was too busy getting lipo: Glam,
rabble-rousing medical student, 26, who thinks junior doctors should get MORE
than a 35% pay rise missed 4-day strike to undergo cosmetic surgery

  • EXCLUSIVE: Eilidh Garrett had joined doctors on the picket line in March
But last week the 26-year-old underwent liposuction surgery
Last year she co-founded #LiveableNHSbursary for medical students

A medical student and prolific campaigner for NHS strikes missed last week's
chaos — because she was recovering from liposuction.

Eilidh Garrett, who lives in Manchester, has spent months cheering on junior
doctors through her influential social media presence and attacked the
Government for its lack of 'moral decency', conduct during strike talks and
refusal to budge on pay.

The 26-year-old believes junior doctors deserve more than 35 per cent — the
huge sum being demanded by the British Medical Association (BMA).

Miss Garrett joined tens of thousands of young medics on the picket line
during the last walkout in March, which led to 175,000 procedures and
appointments being cancelled.

But MailOnline can reveal Miss Garrett, who has racked up millions of views
on her pro-strike Twitter posts, was unable to join colleagues during the four-
day strike last week.

A Young Doctor in London
said he is only paid Ł14 an Hour.

For London
that is not enough per hour.

The Jr. Doctors on Strike again today
goes on until Tuesday.

Some in the media are saying,
more will now Die?

you can have junior doctors who have been in service 10 years

its a poor umbrella term and is misleading and is being abused by the British Medical Union
