[LOS ANGELES, May 18 (Reuters) - Walt Disney Co
(DIS.N) is scrapping plans to build a nearly $1 billion corporate campus in central Florida that would have housed 2,000 employees, according to an e-mail to employees on Thursday, against the backdrop of its ongoing legal battle with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. Disney parks chief Josh D'Amaro said "changing business conditions" prompted Disney to reconsider its 2021 plan to relocate employees, including its Imagineers who design theme park rides, to a new campus in Lake Nona. Disney and DeSantis have been locked in an increasingly acrimonious battle that started in March 2022, when Disney's then-CEO, Bob Chapek, criticized legislation in Florida that would limit discussion of gender identity and sexuality in elementary schools.] The Workers in California are happy they do not have to move https://www.reuters.com/business/med...il-2023-05-18/ |

The plan for the new development was the brain child of the previous disney boss that got the boot, so the current disney management never wanted this new development, it really has nothing to do with the spat between the governor and disney

I’m sure the residents of Florida, especially owners of businesses around Walt Disney World have no qualms with Disney themselves.
DeSantis has been blocked and ****ed over by Disney. Like I said, we love to see it. |

All these companies claim to be all inclusive and promote diversity, but at the end of the day, they only really care about their bottom line. Morals go out the window when $$$'s are up for grabs.

Indeed, the idea that Disney are on some sort of crusade for the people is an extremely hot take -- there's not going to be any motivation anywhere in any of this other than $$$... Disney is not a moral company. The enemy of your enemy is not necessarily your friend at all, etc.
